As anticipation builds for President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has asked U.S. Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider arresting illegal aliens attending the speech.

“Today, Congressman Paul Gosar contacted the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking they consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance,” tweeted the Arizona Republican.

President Trump has invited Evelyn Rodriguez, the mother of a 16 year-old girl beaten to death by MS-13. As reported by The Gateway Pundit‘s Jim Hoft, the murders of Brentwood, New York teenagers Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens in September 2016 shocked the community and galvanized law enforcement.

Cuevas’s body was discovered the following day behind a home near the attack.

Last week, ABC News revealed that at least 24 Democrats are expected to bring illegal aliens as their guests to Trump’s SOTU address, but Gosar says Capitol Police and Sessions should use the opportunity to enforce the Rule of Law.



“A country with no borders, and no enforcement of its laws, is not a country,” Gosar exclusively told Breitbart News. “It is anarchy. It is chaos. Trump was elected to restore order and enforce the law. Obama, by contrast, enjoyed flouting our laws and our constitution.”

Gosar’s insistence that Sessions enforce the law at Trump’s SOTU comes after New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter called on Sessions to “be ready to arrest” Democrats for conspiring with illegal aliens to keep them in the country.



“I’ve also heard they’re planning on inviting illegal aliens,” Coulter told talk radio host Howie Carr. “So Jeff Sessions better be ready to arrest all of them for conspiring to commit a crime, which I believe is a felony under federal law in all 50 states, even if the crime itself is not a felony. I mean, they had to have meetings, they had to make a phone call.”



“These are people who are in the country illegally and anyone conspiring with them to keep them here illegally, to invite them to a State of the Union address, Jeff Sessions should have them all arrested and I mean the congressmen,” Coulter said.



While Democrats are slated to bring illegal aliens to the SOTU address, Trump, in stark contrast, is expected to bring Evelyn Rodriguez to the SOTU address. Evelyn’s 16-year-old daughter, Kayla Cuevas, was beaten and stabbed to death with a friend of hers by MS-13 gang members, a violent street gang from El Salvador that has proliferated due to illegal and mass immigration to the U.S.

Conservative Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) is calling for the arrests of young immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, often called "Dreamers," who attend President Trump's first State of the Union address Tuesday night.



Dozens of Democrats and one centrist GOP lawmaker are bringing such immigrants as their guests to the State of the Union amid the debate in Congress over whether they should be allowed to stay in the country

Gosar said he asked the Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to consider checking the identifications of everyone attending the State of the Union and arrest any immigrants they find in the country illegally.

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is not endorsing Gosar's call to arrest and deport the Dreamers in attendance, making it unlikely such a suggestion would go into effect.


"The Speaker clearly does not agree," Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in response to Gosar's tweets.


Many of the young immigrants who are guests to Tuesday night’s State of the Union are recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which the Trump administration is rescinding.


Roughly 700,000 qualifying immigrants received temporary work permits through DACA. They are at risk of deportation on a rolling basis as their permits expire over time unless Congress acts on a permanent fix or if Trump were to reinstate the program.

Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), a centrist running for reelection in a district won by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016, is so far the only GOP lawmaker bringing a DACA recipient as his State of the Union guest.


Democrats have brought Dreamers to joint addresses to Congress in the past. And Gosar isn’t the first Republican to object to their presence in the House chamber.


In 2015, immigration hard-liner Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) called a DACA recipient in attendance as one of President Obama’s State of the Union guests a “deportable.”


Those with current DACA enrollment status reside in the U.S. legally and are not at risk of arrest or deportation if they attend the State of the Union on Tuesday night.


A spokeswoman for the Capitol Police did not immediately respond to request for comment.


Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), a centrist Republican in support of granting a path to citizenship for Dreamers, blasted Gosar for his actions on Tuesday.

Trump is expected to address immigration at some point in his address Tuesday night. The White House last week unveiled an immigration framework that would grant nearly 2 million immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children a path to citizenship, in exchange for $25 billion to build Trump’s promised wall along the Mexican border and new limits on legal immigration.


Trump’s guests do not include any such immigrants who would be granted citizenship under his proposal. Instead, Trump has invited parents of girls killed by the gang MS-13, as well as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent in charge of investigations that have led to arrests of MS-13 members.

IMMIGRATION AND BORDER SECURITY

The federal government’s failure to enforce the Rule of Law and secure the border are some of the most pressing national security risks facing our country. No one knows this better than the people of Arizona, who have to deal with these problems on a daily basis. The Obama Administration’s unwillingness to uphold the laws of this land has led to large scale illegal immigration, and has inflicted social costs, economic losses, unemployment and crime on U.S. citizens. There is an immigration crisis in the United States, and that crisis is a failure to secure our border and enforce our laws.

It is true that the United States is a nation of immigrants. But more importantly, the United States is a nation of laws. The Rule of Law, in addition to the God-given rights protected by our Constitution, is perhaps the main attraction for those who wish to immigrate to our great country. Having said that, I want to be absolutely clear: I oppose the President Obama's efforts to grant any sort of amnesty by executive fiat, and I oppose any efforts in Congress to grant amnesty to those who have broken our laws. To do so would be a slap in the face to the millions of people who have respected our immigration process and have waited their turn to come to this country. The executive branch must enforce the laws on the books with equal application and without executive orders that undermine those very laws. But it must also verifiably secure the border with personnel, technology, and weaponry, if necessary.

The status quo is unsustainable, immoral, and very dangerous for the general public. In the last two years, the federal government has released nearly 70,000 convicted criminal alien offenders into our communities. The recent murders of innocent American citizens, Kate Steinle of San Francisco and Grant Ronnebeck of Arizona, by illegal immigrants are a direct result of the Obama Administration’s failure to uphold our immigration laws and secure the border. President Obama and Secretary Johnson have blood on their hands. How many innocent lives have to be lost before this administration understands the dangers associated with their failed policies? The actions and flawed policies of this administration have violated the first and foremost role of the federal government, to defend our homeland and protect our citizens.



President Obama consistently stated during his first six years in office that he did not have the authority to take executive action on immigration. President Obama’s egregious and unconstitutional executive amnesty orders threaten to create a dangerous precedent for ideological lawlessness which cannot be reversed. One of the hallmarks of our Constitutional Republic is the separation of powers among the branches of our government. Our Founding Fathers shed their blood to fight against an oppressive monarchy and set up a government with the necessary system of checks and balances to prevent the type of rule by fiat—a trait that has become all too common with this administration. When the president takes action by executive fiat in defiance of Congress, it is an affront to every bedrock principle of this country and opens the door to further expand our monolithic federal regime.



Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 of our Constitution gives Congress clear jurisdiction on immigration matters. I have consistently supported and introduced legislation to enforce the laws on our books and crack down on illegal immigration. For my leadership and action on these issues, I have a career grade of “A+” with the immigration enforcement advocacy group NumbersUSA and a career 100% rating with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). I will continue my efforts to secure the border, to fight the Obama's unconstitutional executive amnesty orders, and to demand a return to the Rule of Law.

Hmm, am I missing something here. I read Gosar's tweets and didn't see him ask for anyone to be arrested but illegal immigrants. He made no mention of those enrolled in DACA (Dreamers). More 'fake news' from the liberals.

A Republican lawmaker said Tuesday that undocumented immigrants in attendance at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address should be “arrested and deported.”

“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress," Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) wrote on Twitter. "Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported."

The status of undocumented immigrants, and especially of those brought to the U.S. as children, has become a central issue in recent weeks, with an impasse over their fate prompting a brief government shutdown earlier this month. Democrats have demanded that protections for so-called Dreamers be codified into law, and multiple Democratic lawmakers have invited Dreamers as guests to President Donald Trump's State of the Union address at the Capitol.

Gosar, an immigration hawk whose Twitter account bears a post reading “no amnesty—period” pinned at the top, said he has asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the U.S. Capitol Police to “consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance.”
He also requested the arrest of any attendee who uses fraudulent identification or a fake social security number as they pass through security.

The statement from Gosar prompted a quick and bipartisan rebuke. AshLee Strong, a spokeswoman for House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), said he "clearly does not agree" with Gosar's suggestion. Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who is bringing a Chicago-area Dreamer as a guest to Tuesday night's speech, wondered online "how many Republican members of the House and Senate will condemn this attempt to punish Dreamers who were brought to this country as kids?"

Rep. Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), said in an interview Dreamers remain protected by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which Trump ended last year with a sixth-month delay so that Congress could codify protections for them into law. She recommended that Gosar "read the law" and said Democrats have been insistent on tying Dreamers' fate to the appropriations process "because we have questions about people like Gosar understanding the law."

"I'm outraged by the comments from Congressman Gosar. Perhaps he should resign from the Congress and go work for ICE. He may be better suited to that position," she said. "His view certainly expresses the most right-wing view that I can imagine. And on the a day when the president is giving a State of the Union, on a day when we hope to hear about the future of our country and a vision for all people who are fortunate enough to be living in the United States of America, these kinds of comments I find disgusting and outrageous and not suitable for a member of Congress."

Like Durbin, other lawmakers responded on Twitter.
"What's wrong with you?" asked House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.). Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) linked to Gosar's tweet and wrote: "The State of our Union is heartless and cruel."

Trump, who spent much of his campaign touting his tough stance on immigration, is expected to address the issue in his Tuesday night address. A White House framework would include a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children, as well as funding for the border wall Trump promised during the 2016 campaign, an end to the diversity visa lottery program and a dramatic curtailing of family-based immigration practices.

That deal has been met with a chilly reception from both parties on Capitol Hill. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said money for a border wall was off the table after the president turned down a last-ditch offer that included such funding. Offering a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants is likely to be unpopular with the House’s powerful arch-conservative Freedom Caucus, of which Gosar is a member.

Yes, I know that. However, you would think he would have said DACA illegals, Dreamers or DACA members. That's not what he said. He specifically said illegal immigrants. Perhaps there are some actually inviting illegal aliens that are not enrolled in DACA.

No DACA should be in our capitol, no DACA should be at the State of the Union, no DACA should be anywhere in the US let alone in our federal city, the District of Columbia.

They all need to be deported wherever they show up, regardless of who invites them or tries to protect them. Capitol Police need to do their job, so does ICE.

Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) attempted to take a shot at Rep. Gosar’s demand, tweeting, “This is why we can’t have nice things…”



Rep. Gosar promptly fired a kill shot at Flake, tweeting, “This is why you got forced out of office.”

In a stunning announcement last October, Flake announced he would not seek re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2018.



In a statement to The Arizona Republic before the announcement, Flake admitted, “there may not be a place for a Republican like me in the current Republican climate or the current Republican Party.”
