Joe Biden Bans Officials from Using Horses to Secure the Border

President Joe Biden will ban officials from using horses while securing the border, days after controversial photographs emerged of agents on horses confronting Haitian migrants the White House confirmed Thursday.

“[W]e will no longer be using horses in Del Rio,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said during the daily press briefing with reporters.
Psaki cited the ban as proof that the president was upset by the images, after members of Congress and activists voiced their outrage that these tactics were happening during Biden’s presidency.

Psaki defended Biden for failing to publicly condemn the images.

“His actions make clear how horrible and horrific he thinks these things are,” she said.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) called the incident “worse than slavery.”

“I’m pissed,” she said during a press conference Wednesday. “And I’m not just unhappy with the cowboys who were running down Haitians and using their reins to whip them. I’m unhappy with the administration. We are following the Trump policy.”

“Cracking a ****ing whip on Haitians fleeing hardship shows you that this system simply can’t be reformed,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) wrote on social media.

Biden’s Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas pushed back on the claim that agents were using whips on people and that the images captured the long separated reins used to control their horses.

He later said he was “horrified” by the images and said the incident was under investigation.

Activists compared the border agents to slave hunters.

These images although centuries apart still seem to represent the worst of America’s capacity for humanity. @Potus if the plan is to #BuildBackBetter step 1 must be tearing down a foundation of oppressive practices.

Vice President Kamala Harris voiced her outrage at the photos on Tuesday calling for an investigation.

“I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into exactly what is going on there,” she said. “But human beings should never be treated that way. I’m deeply troubled about it.”

In most cases "asylum seekers" equals opportunistic economic migrants. The people that truly deserve asylum end up waiting a long time on account of these other people.

I saw horses on the border but they were not used like this until the Haitians arrived, IMO.

Horses are used all across our border in the brush. And yes, they do round them up when they run off.

Horses are regularly used to patrol the border. We do not see it as regular enforcement on mainstream media. Millions are crossing our borders and horses are needed in certain areas.

The horses were not put into patrol because of Haitians. Just as using police dogs.

No matter the sending countries, large masses of people get noticed.

Not one person should cross our border illegally. We have a right to protect our borders and country. We have a legal door.

Running from border patrol while doing something illegal can result in several outcomes just as in every day law enforcement.

Remember this image from back in 2018. Trump was president and people were outraged, because they used teargas. Not that I see a lot of teargas and it's blowing away from the family. Of course, I don't know what is happening off camera.

As stated before, I saw horses being used on the border with my own two eyes when I worked on a JTF. The way that they were used against Haitians is something that I have never seen.

No person should cross the border illegally. But when they do, are you in favor of whipping them with whips, for example?

The treatment of illegal immigrants has changed. That's the focus. No one is debating on if they should be allowed in.

That's were I believe the confusion is. Treating people like human beings while arresting them for their crime.

Yes, I understand that outside of the picture things are not known. But if we could use Google to search all of the video and photos that day, how many "wranglers" would we find? I'm not asking for proof, I'm just asking for an educated guess.

Scott presented a picture in this thread showing tear gas. Do you remember seeing those immigrants throw rocks before the tear gas came out? I ask because you mentioned Haitians attacking and no one else. Sometimes it's not what a person says, it's what they are not saying. The focus should be on the treatment and not if they should be allowed in.

Without watching the videos, I would say there were no wranglers present. I would also guess they use horses when appropriate, as in rough terrain to apprehend people. In my opinion, border patrol was probably doing the best job they could, given the situation and the stress level. I don't think they were whipping these people. Grabbing them and wrangling them, yes. That is their job.



At first glance of the picture, I did think of a slave being whipped. But that was at first glance. After I studied the picture and read some of the comments, it does look like a horses rein loosely flying in the air. This picture is probably not the first time illegal aliens of any race were apprehended in this manor.

Whipping people is wrong. Is using a horse to round them up wrong, when they are misbehaving? I don't think border control was being racist. That's my opinion.

On the other hand, my guess is that Joe Biden is secretly racist.
