Governor Calls for Summit on Immigration Enforcement

PHOENIX – Governor Janet Napolitano has signed Executive Order 2005 – 13, calling for a meeting between state, local and federal entities to devise plans for agencies to work cooperatively to enforce federal immigration laws in Arizona.

The summit will be organized by DPS director Roger Vanderpool, who will extend invitations to law enforcement and other entities across the state. While immigration enforcement is the responsibility of the federal government, local law enforcement becomes involved when officers or deputies have to detain illegal immigrants while the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) makes arrangements to pick them up.

The summit is scheduled to take place on July 12th in Flagstaff. Invitees will include representatives from the Arizona Sheriff’s Association; Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police; Association of County Attorneys and Sheriffs; Arizona Department of Public Safety; U.S. Border Patrol; ICE; Department of Corrections; U.S. Attorney’s Office; Luke Air Force Base; Arizona-Mexico Commission; Arizona Attorney General’s Office; Governor’s Office of Homeland Security; Arizona Criminal Justice Commission; and the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys Advisory Council.

DPS is expected to make comprehensive recommendations to the Governor by late summer on a cooperative, intergovernmental plan detailing strategies for improving enforcement of federal immigration laws in Arizona. Recommendations will include programs, “best practices� models and proposed changes to existing federal laws

Gee.....I guess she got jealous that Perry and Schwarzenegger were getting all the Patriot Kudos in the News.

If she would just stop sending our checks...you know in accordance with Proposition 200, many would stop coming immediately!

Nevertheless, this is GREAT NEWS!!

ALL THREE GOVERNORS NOW NEED TO ORDER UP THEIR NATIONAL GUARD UNITS AND SECURE THAT SOUTHERN BORDER NOW!!

The Northern State Governors need to so the same but we don't have as much influx from that border except in the New England area and perhaps around Detroit.

Now this surprises me...that she has called a meeting...I'll wait to see the outcome of that meeting before I praise or pan.
