Greensboro man faces child rape charges

GREENSBORO -- A Greensboro man is being held in the county jail on a $1 million bond after he was arrested and charged on Monday with raping a child several years ago.

Greensboro Police charged Christian Israel Lavandera-Hernandez, 29, of 3001 Mornstar Place with five counts of first-degree child rape and six counts of indecent liberties. According to police warrants, Lavandera-Hernandez, an undocumented immigrant, had sex with a girl between January 2002 and December 2005, starting when the girl was 9 years old.

He is scheduled to appear in court March 22.
