Group Says Mexico Tough on Its Illegal Immigrants

Group Says Mexico Tough on Its Illegal Immigrants

While there is debate about whether to give U.S. driver's licenses to illegal immigrants in this country, in Mexico, it's against the law.

Rusty Childress with the anti-illegal immigration group "United for a Sovereign America" says the U.S. ought to borrow that page from our neighbors to the south.

He compliments Mexico, sort of. "Mexico has a sound immigration policy."

"It's a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico and they'll put in jail, no questions about it, in the interior or right off of the border. They do not have the tolerance for illegal immigration," says Childress.

"They have a zero tolerance for illegal immigration in Mexico. It's nothing like they want us to do here in terms of lobbying for open borders and amnesty. They don't tolerate that in Mexico."

Mexican lawmakers say their law is strictly enforced because of a problem their southern states have with illegals coming in from Central America.

Childress says if the U.S. had a policy as tough as M0exico's, America wouldn't have an illegal immigration problem.

I think even Mexican citizens returning to Mexico, after living illegally in the US go through the border check point. You never hear about them re-crossing in the desert...
