LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Eber Castro Morales, an immigrant from Guatemala, is in the Gregg County Jail on $30,000 bond, charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
Longview police arrested Morales at Texas Eastman Chemical plant moments at 2 Wednesday morning on an Immigration and Naturalization detainer. He was taken to the police station's Criminal Investigation Division, where he reportedly confessed to picking up the child, taking her to his home on Cheryl Street in northwestern Longview, and raping her, telling investigators he thought the child looked 16 years old.
The child was interviewed July 6 at Martin House Children's Advocacy Center in Longview, where she told interviewers that Morales pulled her legs up and forced himself upon her, according to a probable cause affidavit. The child said Morales identified himself to her by the name Carlos, but police learned his true identity and address through Child Protective Services.
