LOS INDIOS - A firefight near Los Indios marks the second time in two weeks the area is riddled with violence from Mexico.

U.S. officials say Tuesday's gunbattle was not nearly as intense as the one two weeks ago. Still, it has them on alert.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS has learned the gunbattle broke out early Tuesday afternoon in an area about 10 miles south of the Los Indios International Bridge. A Mexican helicopter patrolled the skies and gunfire was heard.

We're told the battle between suspected cartel members and Mexican military lasted about two hours. Customs and Border Protection officials say traffic was never halted into Mexico, though. The bridge remains open.

This is the same area where a gunbattle broke out two weeks ago in Lucio Blanco, Mexico. Officials say it's rare to have firefights in this region of the border
