What a misleading crock of horse $#!+

First, troops aren't static. They patrol and communicate among themselves providing a tremendous force multiplier over entrenched troops.

Second, the very PRESENCE of armed troops is a significant deterrent in and of itself. It sends an unmistakeable message to anyone thinking about illegally crossing. The message is "you risk loss of life or freedom".

Third, even 100,000 troops would be a major improvement over what's stationed there now. Let them do their job, SUPPORT them and they will take care of business.

The problem isn't about how many troops are needed to secure the border. The problem is the absence of personal will and political courage lacking among our spineless leaders in D.C.

Double fence, road in center, constant patrol of agents or troops, helicopter, drones, could be done with less troops then stated but the will to do it is not there, however we can send troops to other countries to secure there border just not here, sorry i don't buy the double speak.

Bring the troops home from South Korea - problem solved.

We could secure our Southern border with about 20,000 troops under the proper operational procedures.

This guy is saying 500,000 to try and make the false claim that Americans cant defend our border anymore with Mexico as we have for the last 150 years.

... And U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner Alan Bersin needs to be fired for making a comment as stupid as an estimate based on agents standing 25 yards apart on the border.

What a ridiculous thing to say and for anyone in his position of high authority to say something this ludicrous should be grounds for dismissal if not further investigation for Treason.

20,000 troops and BlueServo don't sound like it would cost all that much, they know Blueservo cameras are there and that's why crossings have fallen off in those areas! 500,000 troops "Shut the **** up! Don't speak for us traitor!"

alligators.. Or perhaps she's talking 500.000 Mexican troops. Hell, obviously
with their keen sense of direction just bring them to the border and face them south and tell them defend Mexico from the invasion. That way all the self deportees from here can sneak back in from behind them.

Exactly.

While we focus on rocks and holes in the mountains of Afghanistan, our porous borders have been left wide open for many decades.

We have become a military industrial complex and nation builder (or on how you look at it, destroyer) in our own country and around the world, with complete abuse of the War Powers originally authorized by Congress.

Our military is destroying nations in the Middle East while those same resources could be here rebuilding our's.
