High-Ranking Mexican Officials To Visit U.S. for Border Security Technology
    (2007-03-22)
By: Copyright Business Wire 2007 , Business Wire

E.J. Krause & Associates, a world leader in exhibition and conference management, today announced that high-ranking Mexican officials will visit the Global Border Security Conference in May to evaluate law enforcement and border security technology and speak on the subject of balancing security with economic prosperity. The delegation will be led by Lic. Jose Luis Santiago Vasconcelos, Deputy Attorney General for International Affairs, Procuraduria General De la Justicia.

Vasconcelos, Mexico's top official responsible for the investigation of all crimes, including drug trafficking cartels on the Mexican-U.S. border, is expected to speak May 10 about Mexico's strategy to secure its border and reduce crime in the region for both U.S. and Mexican residents. The delegation includes other officials in the Justice Department working to reduce drug and other border crimes. Officials are expected to investigate the availability and applications of new technologies designed to meet the complex challenges faced along the border.

Thousands of technology buyers, federal, state and local law enforcement leaders and emergency management personnel from across the country, Mexico, Canada and around the world are expected to attend the Global Border Security Conference and Expo scheduled in San Antonio on May 8-10. Additional speakers and government officials invited and attending include Texas Governor Rick Perry, David Aguilar, Chief of Border Patrol for the Department of Homeland Security, John Clark, Deputy Assistant Secretary for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Dan Shackelford, Associate Director for Small Business, Department of Defense.

Said Michael Rosenberg, Vice President of Homeland Security, for E.J. Krause, "The Global Border Security Conference is the largest gathering of technology leaders in the world focused on border protection. We are honored to have such strong support from the Mexican government and are proud to be hosting such an event in the heart of Texas. We hope our conference can be a catalyst for dialogue and positive cooperation on the issues of international trade, security and technology."

With more than 7,000 miles of border between the U.S., Canada and Mexico, millions of people entering the U.S. each year, and with more than 20,000 trucks delivering cargo daily into the U.S., border security and control are among the most important goals of our government in 2007 and 2008. More than $40 billion dollars have been allocated by federal and state government for homeland and border security.

I hope the Israelis are in attendance and that they are guest speakers. I would have to say that they are the world experts, in the field of national security.

Why and What for? How come Canada and Mexico (especially Mexico), are going to be attending this excursion? Why?

Global Border Security? Yep, this is just another "step" for a North American Union. Otherwise, the United States would be planning it's own methods of security, and most likely, parts of the plans would be considered top secret, and not discussed with Canada and worse Mexico. I see Gov Perry is going to be there too. So, I guess they will also be discussing the huge mega highway that will cut right through Texas. I bet Perry was well rewarded for his "new" outlook on highways and border security.
