TUCSON - Law enforcement is looking for a man who ran away from a rollover crash Thursday morning on I-19 near the San Xavier exit. The man was driving over 100 mph. Five people were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital.
According to Customs and Border Protection, out of the five people in custody, only one is a U.S. Citizen. When Border Patrol checked the vehicle, they found three bundles of marijuana.
Sgt. Zach Swalander of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, says one of their units was at a traffic stop just south of the crash site, he witnessed a vehicle go by at a high rate of speed, he soon followed because he saw Border Patrol chasing the car.
There were six passengers in the car, the driver lost control and rolled several times landing upside down.
After the vehicle crashed, one occupant in the car took off running. Swalander says, " I think they ran through someone's yard, and as a Border Patrol agent was chasing the suspect, a dog attacked the agent and I think he fired a shot at it. I don't think he hit it."
