Arizona dad detained by ICE on son's birthday
Arizona dad detained by ICE on son's birthday

Jennifer Sanchez, 23, and her sister, Karla Fomperosa, 14, talk about finding
out their father has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

PHOENIX —When the clock struck midnight on Thursday morning, Juan Carlos Fomperosa Garcia walked into his son's bedroom to wake him up and sing happy birthday.
On his phone, he blasted "Las Mañanitas" as his two daughters, Yennifer Sanchez, 23, and Karla Fomperosa, 14, brought in a birthday cake for their brother.
But Fomperosa Garcia didn't get to celebrate his son's 17th birthday later Thursday as he had planned.
About 9 a.m., the 44-year-old went into a meeting with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in Phoenix for his asylum case, Sanchez said. About an hour later, three people stepped out of the ICE offices to tell Sanchez her father was detained.
They gave her a green tote bag with the paperwork he had brought for his case, Sanchez recounted Thursday night in tears.
"I didn't get to say bye to him," she said. "The last thing I said was, 'Go in there, don't be late.' "
About noon, she got a call from him. He told her he was going to be deported, Thursday or Friday.
Thursday night, the sisters spoke at a news conference at the offices of Living United for Change Arizona, a community group that advocates for civic engagement with immigrant families.
Yasmeen Pitts O'Keefe, an ICE spokeswoman in Phoenix, said the agency was aware of the news conference but would not have any comment on the matter until Friday morning. She declined to confirm anything about the case.
Sanchez and Fomperosa were emotional Thursday night, laughing and crying as they spoke of their father.
Sanchez said he had a work permit, and she thought that gave him a security against deportation.
"He's not here illegally, I thought they were only taking people who had committed crimes," Sanchez said.
Fomperosa Garcia is a single dad from Veracruz, Mexico, she said. He came to the U.S. when he was 24 and worked in construction. His two daughters and son are U.S. citizens. His family said he was no criminal record.
The daughters were distraught.
"My father is not a criminal. He's not one of those people that you hear on the news that President Trump says,'' Sanchez said through tears. "He's not a rapist, he's not a drug dealer and he's not a murderer. My father's an honest, working man, a family man that loves everyone he meets. He cares too much and that's the only crime.''
Please, everyone, be aware. They are taking everyone,'' she added.
Karla Fomperosa, the youngest, is an eighth-grader. The last time she saw her dad was before she boarded the school bus Thursday morning.
"I didn't think anything was going to happen, I wanted it to be a normal day," she said. When she returned home from school, she saw her brother "crying on the couch." That's when she knew what had happened, she said.
Sanchez said Fomperosa Garcia was detained at the ICE office in Phoenix, but his children had no idea whether he still was there Thursday night or if he had been deported.

And he has 3 anchor babies. Who paid for them? US taxpayers? Where is the mother? Did he pay the hospital bills for all three?
Did he receive government benefits for his anchor babies? Welfare, food stamps, Medicare?
No illegal alien should receive government benefits ON BEHALF of a US citizen...minor or otherwise.
DO NOT REWARD...DEPORT AND TAKE YOUR MINOR CHILDREN WITH YOU.ILLEGAL ALIENS HAVE "BROKEN" OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM
DO NOT REWARD THEM - DEPORT THEM ALL

Ship them back to Mexico to be with there father.
These people just don't get it!
It doesn't matter how long you evaded the law and all of you know your presence in the United States is illegal and
the day would eventually come where you would face the consequence.
Your sob stories do not give us tears, in fact they make us more angry and want all of you deported.

They all need to call ICE and let them know they want to be removed with their wonderful father.
