Virginia Lake fondler sentenced to prison for assaults on female joggers

For fondling female joggers whom he targeted at Virginia Lake Park, a 25-year-old illegal immigrant will serve up to six years in prison, a judge ruled Thursday.Bulmaro Torres-Alvarado told investigators he couldn’t help himself when he approached at least two women running around the lake, and fondled them. His goal was to get dates, police said.

He told Washoe Chief District Judge David Hardy on Thursday that the gropings were fueled by an emotional breakdown he suffered following the end of a romantic relationship.

Torres-Alvarado was arrested in March after one of his victims recognized him back at the park, and called police.

He apologized through a Spanish interpreter, and asked for probation.

Hardy sentenced him to a prison term of two to six years for a felony count of coercion, and ruled that a one-year jail term for a gross misdemeanor count of open and gross lewdness run at the same time. Torres-Alvarado had earlier pleaded guilty to the crimes.

Deputy District Attorney Nathan Edwards described Torres-Alvarado’s conduct as “predatory.” He said he staked out his victims at the park, and then hunted them throughout a four-month period.

Edwards said it was concerning that Torres-Alvarado said he couldn’t help himself, and that he deserved prison.

The victims did not appear in court.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an immigration hold on Torres-Alvarado who is expected to be deported following his prison release.

Probation my butt! I'm beginning to believe the only way to keep them out of OUR country is to start imposing the death penalty and following up on it! That way they can't come back, nor will they EVER assault again!
