EVERETT (AP) -- The Coast Guard shuts down an ExxonMobil fuel depot in Everett after 15 undocumented immigrants working for a contractor are arrested at the site.
Officials say the illegal immigrants, all from Ecuador, were hired to clean up a petroleum spill near storage tanks that hold gasoline, jet fuel and kerosene.
They were arrested yesterday morning after police spotted them trying to access equipment they had stored next door at Distrigas, which operates a terminal containing liquefied natural gas.
Homeland Security officials have long expressed concern that terrorists could target fuel depots and liquefied natural gas vessels and facilities.
A Coast Guard official calls the incident "a serious security breakdown."
Those arrested all face deportation.
An ExxonMobil spokesman says the company follows all laws and the incident is under investigation.

You wonder if it hadn't been for Americans like us fighting so hard to make people aware of illegal immigration if something like this might have gone unnoticed.
