A COMPARISON
A glimpse at the old and new mission statements for the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant and Refugee Affairs.

The old: “The policy of MOIRA is to encourage access by all persons residing in the city of Houston, regardless of nation of birth or current citizenship status, to the full benefits, opportunities, and services that are provided and administered by the city of Houston.â€

All Houstonians can look forward to is 2010 when term limits will get rid of this idiot Bill White once and for all. Of course being the illegal alien cease pool Houston has become they will probably elect someone worse. What law abiding, taxpayers and business need to do is move out of the city limits of Houston and quit giving the City of Houston the tax money they need to give away to illegal aliens. Crime in Houston is out of control and Houston ISD is over run with gangs and illegal aliens so a kid is not going to get an education. At least the Harris County Sheriff's Department believes in 287g.

I would like to comment on the source article but I refuse to buy the hard copy or "visit" the online version of the houston paper; speaking for myself it is the most Pro-IILEGAL rag printed.

Agreed, but it does not stop at the Houston City limits. Most of the surrounding towns have the same "sanctuary city" policies. For example League City allows the ILLEGALS to gather on a number of sites to be picked up for "day labor" and one of the largest is about 75 ft from the Police Station. The school districts also cave to the ILLEGALS setting up programs for the ILLEGALS and their anchors on the pretense of learning English; pre-kindergarten thru the 5th grade utilizing Citizens tax money.

Any city and/or state in our country that complains about shortage of funds just needs to stop paying for services for illegals, and enforce our immigration laws and they will end up making money, not losing it.

Sounds easy but we have Elitist Politicians who answer only to their Elitist Political Contributors and Special Interest Groups whose "bottom line" is improved with the "cheap labor" from the ILLEGALS.

Just follow the money The Elitist Political Contributors will get their "cheap labor" and not have to furnish any "benefits" because all the "benefits" for the ILLEGALS will be furnished by the taxpayers enforced and implemented by "our politicians" and their "men"(see Johnny Sutton)!!

You are right, so leave League City. We moved to unincorporated Harris County (which borders League City) and it is policed by the Harris County Sheriff's Department. They believe in 287g. We have got to start sending a message to these cities that insist on giving sanctuary to criminals and instead supporting those who don't give they protection. The problem we do have in Harris County with illegals is the fault of the State and Federal Government. The Supreme Court says we have to pay to provide them with a free education. That needs to change.

The problem with Houston is it has become a vacuum. Over a period of time there has been a flight out of Houston to better schools and better neighborhoods. Illegal criminals and low income people have moved in and taken over what was left. Naturally, they are going to keep electing people like Bill White, Gene Green, Sheila Jackson Lee and there is nothing the minority can do about it. So again, over time people have just picked up and moved out of Houston. The school my son goes to is mostly white compared to the closest Houston ISD school that is 90% Hispanic.
