No biometric ID. No! No! No! Sorry, but NO! This isn't about changing our country, our privacy, our rights or our ID formats ... this is about stopping illegal aliens who have no privacy, no rights and no ID formats to be here.

The FBI should know that these people can duplicate anything. They are document fraud masters. So ... if they have a counterfeit or fake biometric ID, then we won't ever be able to get rid of them.

Lets follow the plan as I see it shaping up in Congrress so far:

1. HR 140 is to end automatic birthright citizenship. Lets pass it.

2. Lamar Smith is holding hearings on E-Verify and streamlining deportations. Lets pass the Save Act that require employers touse E-Verify.
3. States like AZ are proposing and passing their own immigration law and if enough do so, especially our southern border state, and using their state and local law enforcement officers to arrest and detain illegal immigrants then we will have made a huge dent in illegal immigation to the US.

Good points Judy.... To me It all depends on how It Is Implemented. We need to do something to stop Identity fraud In a way that does not Interfere with OUR RIGHTS as American citiizens. Watching this discussion with Interest...

I have said it a number of times. DHS/ICE is not large enough to prevent the invasion. A variety of methods can be and should be employed to prevent this mega-million person invasion.

National Guard, E-Verify, enforcing fines and imprisonment on those who knowingly hire illegals, funding of local police to enforce our immigration laws, TRYING PUBLIC OFFICIALS WHO REFUSE TO ENFORCE OUR LAWS.
None of these are Draconian. They are simply asking our government to support our laws and live up to their oath of office.

I agree a bio metric ID may be forged, but not YOUR finger prints. If you present a forged or stolen ID to a employer, it's matched against yr actual finger prints, via a small portable scanner. Your finger prints will NOT match the forged or stolen card. Consequently, you are denied employment.

This is presently being done with Secure Communities, yet no "individual" bio metric card is involved. Law enforcement stores the bio metric finger prints in a large database. When you are arrested, yr prints are checked against the databse, to determine if you have any outstanding warrants and your "true" identity.

At some point, we need secure, verifiable documents. It may be biometric fingerprints.

Local police agencies are just beginning to implement portable finger print scanners. These will be placed in patrol cars and they will verify the identity of people.
