ICE Agents Arrest 345 People In Five-County Operation

Hope this not a repost as I just heard the news on KFI.

ICE Agents Arrest 345 People In Five-County Operation

LOS ANGELES -- A week-long federal law enforcement operation targeting immigration fugitives, criminals and violators netted 345 arrests in five Southland counties, customs officials announced Friday.

During the operation, which concluded Thursday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested 194 people in Los Angeles County, 43 in Orange County, 68 in Riverside and San Bernardino counties combined and 40 in Ventura County, ICE reported.

Of those arrested, 238 were suspected immigration fugitives -- people who allegedly had ignored final orders of deportation or who returned to the United States illegally after being deported. About 20 percent of those arrested had criminal histories in addition to being in the country illegally, ICE reported.

Among those arrested was Jose Perez-Padilla, 46, a previously deported Mexican citizen and gang member whose criminal history includes felony convictions for drug sales and assault with a deadly weapon, according to ICE.

Perez-Padilla was arrested by ICE agents on Wednesday when he arrived at the Superior Court building in downtown Los Angeles to respond to state charges of possession of marijuana for sale.

He now faces prosecution by the U.S. Attorney's office for re-entry after deportation, a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

The people arrested were from 18 different countries, including Mexico, Colombia, Indonesia, Armenia, Thailand and India.

Because many of the suspects have already been through immigration proceedings, they are subject to immediate removal from the country, according to ICE.

"We want to send a strong message to those who ignore deportation orders handed down by the nation's immigration judges -- that ICE is going to use all of the tools and resources at its disposal to find you and send you home," said Brian DeMore of ICE's Los Angeles field office.

So far this year, the ICE fugitive operations teams in the Los Angeles area have made more than 1,000 arrests.

It appears you are the first as I "googled" the header to see if any other listings came up

Given the recent tones, does anyone else think this is postering to humor us on the part of DHS/ICE for the upcoming election? It's NOT humoring me one bit at all. It appears the States that are willing to set down the law and enforce it are doing better than ICE has done in ages!

We have between 20-30 million ilegal invaders domiciled in this country. ICE should be conducting raids 7 days a week. They can start by showing a presence at these ridiciolus protests and marches whereby illegal invaders march down our streets and demand rights while waiving the flag of their motherland.

I have nothing but respect for the people working for ICE and CBP (most of them..not the people at the very top). But what they should be doing is raiding businesses seven days per week...doing random inspections. Checking the IDs of all of the workers. You'll get illegal aliens, many of them fugitives, and at the same time you'll send a message to businesses that they'd better watch out who they hire...even if it's unknowingly hiring illegals, maybe it'll prompt the businesses to sign up for the E-verify (SAVE) program.

Going after fugitives and criminal aliens is very important, but those fugitive ICE teams sometimes go after 6 people per day, and on some days don't get anyone, or only get one of the six targets...what a waste of manpower and resources. Go after businesses randomly...that'll put fear into the illegals. Going after McDonald's, Wendy's, and major homebuilders is also better than going after some obscure Chinese restaurant that only has two locations and 12 employees total.

I agree. If North Carolina alone has over half a million illegals you can't say they all are picking tobacco and tending lawns. They have to be working "regular" jobs such as at factories (what few we have left in NC) and intitutions like UNC and Duke. I know for a fact in Siler City there are many illegals working at meat processing plants but I have yet heard of a raid there, nor has there been any "real" raids at any other plants. They thing is there should be many more raids in the new than there have been. 365 sounds good until you put that number against the millions that are here. I say round them up, send them AND thier children (born here or not) back to thier home country NO MATTER HOW LONG THEY"VE BEEN HERE OR HOW MANY CHILDREN THEY HAVE HAD WHILE HERE! It's time to get real and do the job they are hired to do.

    I disagree with this part

because you can't be selective. If ICE does not go after the smaller businesses, too, then there will be an increase of hiring in these institutions. It's not just the restaurants, it's all across the board pretty much in the service sector.

Who's repairing your vehicle when you need it these days? Who's doing building and home construction? Who's doing highway construction? Yes there are those who are here abiding by the system with work permits with the illegals spoiling the opportunities for the legal immigrants.

Citizens need to get more involved in reporting suspected illegal aliens and their employers to ICE....call 1-866-DHS-2ICE (remember reports can be made anonymously) and keep this number handy.

Juan Marcos Gutiérrez González, the new Mexican consul in Los Angeles, arrived with an ambitious work plan that contemplates to offer greater protection to its compatriots and to insist on a migratory reform that brings them off of the shadows.

"With raids, or without raids, the consulate is going to be where we have to be, once we have news of a raid we will act with expert lawyers", heindicated.

Coincidence these news items came out about the same time?

ICE, we need to keep Juan Marcos Gutiérrez González extremely busy.
