HOUSTON –- Agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were called in after a police chase turned up a truck bed full of people, police said.

Police said they tried to pull over the truck around 3 a.m. Friday on Houston’s northside.

After a brief chase, the truck stopped on Bauman Road at Tidwell Road where the driver and passenger got out and ran, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officers removed a rug in the truck bed to reveal about a dozen people hiding. Several of them tried to run but were later captured, police said.

ICE agents were called in with a bus to take the people away.

Police later said the pickup truck was reported stolen.
