ICE Arrested More Than 10,000 Immigrants In Texas Last Quarter

Dallas leads the country in immigration-related arrests, followed by Atlanta and Houston.

Federal immigration authorities deport undocumented immigrants back to El Salvador.


Federal authorities arrested over 10,000 immigrants statewide in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019, according to new data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The bulk of statewide arrests were concentrated around Houston and Dallas.

In the Houston area, immigration authorities made 3,264 arrests last quarter.

Arrests decreased 6 percent compared to the first quarter of the last fiscal year.

Deportations, on the other hand, were up 52 percent locally to nearly 4,957.

That’s compared to a 10 percent increase in deportations nationwide.

Dallas led the country in immigration-related arrests, with some 4,111 arrests this quarter, followed by Atlanta and Houston.

Considering its large undocumented community and its full cooperation with federal immigration authorities, Houston is consistently among the top metro areas nationwide for immigration law enforcement.

The bulk of ICE arrests were of people who have been convicted of crimes, which vary from drunk driving to more serious violations like assault.
