D.E.A. Cracks Down on Bandidos MC

D.E.A. Cracks Down on Bandidos -- Yami Virgin

As an I.C.E. agent was being laid to rest in Brownsville on Wednesday, law enforcement agents all over the country - including right here in San Antonio - were fighting back against those they say are involved with the Mexican drug cartels.

"You go after one of us," D.E.A. agent Mauricio Fernandez said, "We're going to come after you.

In the San Antonio area, the target was the Bandidos motorcycle club.

"There is no mistake about what the Bandidos are and what they're about, " San Antonio Police Chiefe William McManus said. "They're a bunch of bad, bad actors."

According to the D.E.A., the Bandidos are a distribution channel for the Mexican drug cartels. They say the Bandidos were receiving meth and cocaine hidden in motorcycle parts from another notorious biker club in California. They believe the drugs are originating from the cartels in Mexico.

In Hondo, some 65 law enforcement agents descended on known targets. Some $200,000 in cash, along with houses, drugs and weapons were seized. Two people were arrested in Hondo, ten others in San Antonio.

With these arrests, law enforcement says they have closed a chapter on the Bandidos by cutting out their heart. The D.E.A estimates that the Bandidos have made $600 million in drug sales in the last 10 years.

Members of the U.S. Marshals service, D.P.S, S.A.P.D., Kerrville P.D. and others took part of the operation.
