NEW YORK, NY -- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and officers of the New York City Department of Probation, have arrested 80 criminal aliens in Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan. The arrests were made as a part of Operation Retract, an ongoing initiative by ICE’s New York office.
Operation Retract identifies and targets criminal aliens, who are currently on probation, for arrest and removal. All of the those arrested during the seven-month investigation were on probation in New York City for prior felony or misdemeanor convictions including rape, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, assault, drug convictions and other sex offenses. All of their convictions made them subject to removal from the United States.
Those arrested today include:
A 25 year old Chinese female, and a lawful permanent resident, was arrested and charged with attempted murder for stabbing her boyfriend numerous times. She was convicted of attempted assault and sentenced to five years probation.
An 18 year old Mexican national, who was in this country illegally, was arrested for assault. He was convicted of assault and sentenced to five years probation. The subject used a metal pipe to assault his victim, hitting him about the head and face.

The subject was also arrested for domestic violence and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. The subject was convicted of assault and criminal contempt for disobeying a court order of protection. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation.
“The individuals that we arrested in this operation threatened the public safety and the well being of the community. We are determined to make our communities safer for everyone and will continue to work with the New York City Probation Department and other law enforcement agencies to that end, ” said Martin D. Ficke, special agent in charge of ICE’s Office of Investigations in New York.
NYC Probation Commissioner Martin F. Horn commented, "The violent criminals arrested in our offices have abused the privilege of living in this country. Moreover we see no reason why taxpayer dollars should be spent on their supervision. The city will be a safer place when they are deported.”
The ICE arrests were the result of an eight month investigation and included citizens of the following countries: the Dominican Republic (28 ), Mexico (13), Jamaica (10), China (5), Trinidad (4), Guyana (3), El Salvador (3), Korea (2), Colombia (4), Antigua (1), Barbados (1), India (1), Grenada (1), Honduras (1), Ecuador (3) and the United Kingdom (1).
Thirty-six of the aliens were in the country illegally and 45 were legal permanent residents. ICE agents transported the aliens to various detention facilities where they will be detained and placed into removal proceedings. Those with final orders of removal will be deported from the country shortly. The others will have their cases heard before an Immigration Judge.
ICE has a toll-free number for the public to provide leads to its enforcement teams on any violations, including tips about child pornography, child sex offenders and others preying on children. The toll-free number (1-866-DHS-2ICE) is monitored 24 hours a day by officers at the ICE Law Enforcement Support Center.
