Immigration and deportation have become major issues in law enforcement operations across the state, so much so that Congress is urging more cooperation between immigration enforcement and the state’s criminal justice system.

Across Texas, some local law enforcement organizations are dealing with illegal immigrants as if the offices had blinders on their heads, while others are pursuing deportation of every immigrant they arrest.

The Legislative House Corrections Committee wants to make sure the state has consistency in its policies on illegal immigrants with felony convictions, from the probation departments to the local jails to the prison system.

“We are interested in specifically looking at what’s being done to check citizenship, and to make sure that uniform steps are being taken,â€

They do have blinders - I have seen it with traffic enforcment.

As for 'pursuing deportation of every immigrant they arrest'. He is talking illegal - right? Just wonder what is wrong with that. Every illegal is illegal and is not supposed to be here. They are lawbreakers - and not of just one law.

That is what is making me so crazy - they act as if illegals just step across the border and otherwise 'do no harm'. That is not the case.

Unless we do some real interior enforcement, nothing else will matter.

    This is insanity.

They are evidently going to build some new detention facilities - one in Caldwell county and I think they have one in Taylor, Texas.

I'm not at all sure why they need so many detention centers. If a person is determined to be here illegally - then just deport them. Are we going to have trials for each and every one of them?

Yes each and every ones civil rights say they have the right to a lawyer and the right to go before an immigration Judge.

Whats really costing us a fortune is they keep coming back. We also need SS no match, if they don't have a job they will go home on their own. It is the only way to avoid the cost. Attrition through job enforcement.

Absolutely, cut off the jobs, cut off the freebies, confiscate the cars.

It cannot - it just cannot be that difficult - and it certainly isn't 'complex'.
