Castro Wants To Eliminate Legal Term 'Alien'

    KTRH Radio Houston, TX

Whenever the subject of illegal immigration comes up, the term ‘illegal alien’ is one that you are very likely to hear. But, one Texas Congressman wants to change that.

Joaquin Castro wants to wipe the term from our law books, and has even filed legislation to try and get that done. Houston immigration attorney Gordon Quan thinks this is an overreach.

“Alien is used in the Immigration Act is a term of art and while it may be insensitive to some I don’t think it rises to the level of national priority. His intentions are good, but I think his effort is somewhat overstated,” Quan explained.

William Gheen at ALIPAC says this won’t be the last time you hear of a lawmaker trying something like this. “The people behind this invasion have proven time and time again they will return and work to eventually achieve their goals,” Gheen stated.

So, at the end of the day it's about being politically correct, which according to the Inclusive Center at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, is a term we shouldn't use anymore either.

Congressman Castro declined KTRH's interview request.

A rose by any other name...

    The name is unimportant. Illegal
is still illegal. The "new" name will
embody the same disgusting nature by which the old would relinquish.
