    For More Information:

Greg L. Davis, Big Bend Sector Public Affairs, 432-729-5200, Gregory.L.Davis@cbp.dhs.gov

Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican citizen who had been removed from the United States on four prior occasions.

On July 18, 2020, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sierra Blanca Station responded to a call from concerned citizens of two individuals requesting to turn themselves in to the Border Patrol after seeking assistance due to lack of water.

Agents arrived and took custody of both upon determining them to be citizens of Mexico illegally present in the United States.

During processing it was discovered that Juan OLIVAS-Rios is a previously deported felon with an extensive criminal history including a 1992 voluntary manslaughter conviction out of Wichita Falls, Texas. OLIVAS was last removed from the United States on December 31, 2011.

Following his arrest, OLIVAS was transported to the El Paso County Detention Center. He is charged by a federal criminal complaint with one count of re-entry after deportation. A criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Big Bend Sector Border Patrol agents, patrol 517 miles of the south an area that extends from Sierra Blanca, Texas to Sanderson, Texas. The Sierra Blanca Station area of responsibility consists of more than half of Hudspeth County or about 2,500 square miles. The station is responsible for 73 border miles between the U.S. and Mexico. More than 10,000 vehicles travel through the Sierra Blanca checkpoint on a daily basis.

The U.S. Border Patrol is made up of over 19,000 brave men and women who courageously secure our nation’s borders. Help us secure our homeland, find out more at cbp.gov/careers.

EXPEL them all back to the very southern end of Mexico and make it very difficult for them to come back!

2nd time caught put them on International Prison Island and let their country pay their incarceration costs!

Charge their Embassy for their flights. We are not their travel agent. They pay or NO more visa's to Mexico or any of these countries.

Stop bleeding BILLIONS of our tax dollars and paying for these criminal trespassers!
