May 6, 2015 – ICE deports accused Mexican mass murderer captured in northern California
A Mexican national captured last year in Santa Cruz County, who is wanted in his native country on multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, was turned over May 6 to Mexican law enforcement at a San Diego-area border crossing by officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). May 5, 2015 – ICE Dallas officers deport Brazilian man wanted for killing 13-year-old boy
A Brazilian man was deported May 5 and turned over to law enforcement authorities based on an outstanding warrant for murder for killing a 13-year-old boy in 1991. Full Story
May 6, 2015 – ICE Chicago officers deport Pakistani national convicted of south Florida terror bomb plot in 2002
A Pakistani national, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison for conspiring to blow up south Florida power stations and a National Guard Armory in 2002, was deported May 4 by officers with ERO. Full Story
May 5, 2015 – ICE removes Salvadoran man convicted for homicide
A 39-year-old Salvadoran man convicted for homicide in his home country was removed to El Salvador April 28 by ERO officers in San Antonio, Texas. Full Story
May 1, 2015 – ICE special agent discusses art smuggling at Baylor University law school

ICE OPA earns 2 prestigious communication awards
Two projects produced by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Public Affairs (OPA) Strategic Communications Branch earned honors in the 21st Annual Communicator Awards program from The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. The Communicator Awards recognize achievements in the fields of marketing and communications.

2 Boston women sentenced for roles in sex trafficking organization
Vanessa Grandoit, 26, of Roxbury, was sentenced today to one year and one day in prison and five years of supervised release. Kairis Sanchez, aka “Lola,” of Dorchester and Portland, Maine, was sentenced on April 29, 2015, to 18 months in prison and five years of supervised release. Both women pleaded guilty to one count each of transportation to engage in criminal sexual activity.

Former Puerto Rican psychiatrist sentenced to 15 years for child exploitation
On Aug. 20, 2013, Gerardo Navarro-Rodriguez, 60, was arrested at his medical office in Caguas after an investigation revealed he allegedly induced, coerced and enticed at least one 17-year-old male minor to engage in commercial sexual acts. The investigation was spurred by a referral from the Puerto Rico Police Department.

North Carolina couple sentenced for manufacture of child pornography
Bailey Joe Mills, 34, received 45 years of imprisonment followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Mills’ wife, Elizabeth, was sentenced to 16 years followed by 10 years of supervised release. Both are required to register as sex offenders.

San Juan area man arrested for possession of child pornography
HSI special agents arrested Joed Torres-Monje, 34, following an investigation that revealed he utilized his personal computer to download child pornography via a peer-to-peer (P2P) platform, a network created when two or more computers are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer.

This investigation has resulted in the guilty pleas of other conspirators of SB Medical Inc. and TC Medical Group, including: David Eli Burke, director of sales; Shlomo David Rabi, director of sales and marketing; Asaf Akiva Ibrahimian; sales representative; Reuven Daniel Mirlis, sales representative; Rivka Rabi, drop shipper.

ICE investigation results in 4 arrests in Queens, NY, 13 in Italy
Husband and wife defendants, Gregorio, 59, and Eleonora Gigliotti, 54, of Malba, New York, their son Angelo Gigliotti, 34, of Woodside, New York, and a relative who is an Italian citizen, Franco Fazio, 56 of Calabria, Italy, are charged with conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, importation of cocaine, and attempted possession of cocaine.

Roswell, NM, man pleads guilty to federal child exploitation charges
Jim Walter Qualls Jr., 28, was arrested on child pornography charges July 31, 2014, based on a criminal complaint charging him with receiving and distributing child pornography, possessing child pornography, and enticing a minor to engage in any sexually explicit conduct to produce visual images.

ICE arrests Caguas resident for sexually enticing a minor, attempted production of child pornography
HSI special agents arrested Francisco Alvarado-Cruz, 31, of Caguas, following a referral from PRPD’s Cyber Crimes Division regarding an investigation the division initiated to identify persons involved in the online victimization of children.

Terrorist suspect, visa scammer deported to Kosovo
Brahim Lajiq, 55, entered the United States through Mexico at an unknown time. The FBI began an investigation on him in June 2010 for making threats to “slaughter people” if he was not issued a green card, and for stating he and his brothers are engaged in jihad.

Former teacher sentenced to 15 years for online enticement of minor
According to court documents, between Dec. 14, 2013, and March 14, 2014, David Wendel Thompson, 49, of Seffner, used Facebook to attempt to persuade two minor females in Belize, ages 13 and 15, to engage in sexual intercourse with him.

ICE honored by NCMEC with Heroes' Award for fighting child exploitation
HSI Seoul began engaging Korean law enforcement authorities in December 2006 to make the possession of child pornography a felony in Korea. By June 2013, the National Assembly of Korea passed such a bill. Around the same time, HSI Seoul contacted NCMEC to begin receiving investigative leads with a nexus to South Korea.

ICE Chicago officers deport Pakistani national convicted of south Florida terror bomb plot in 2002
Imran Farooq Mandhai, 32, pleaded guilty in August 2002 in the Southern District of Florida to conspiring to bomb electrical power stations and a National Guard Armory as part of a jihad mission in the United States.

Reginald E. Newman, 29, and his wife, Tiara Jade Newman, 21, both of Topeka, are each charged with one count of conspiracy to sex trafficking a minor, and one count of sex trafficking a minor.

ICE removes Salvadoran man convicted for homicide
Wilfredo Hernandez Pastora was charged with homicide Oct. 15 and later convicted. He fled to the United States after having been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

Albuquerque man pleads guilty to federal child pornography charge
Under the terms of his plea agreement, Andres Salinas faces a maximum sentence of six years, but not fewer than four years in federal prison, followed by a maximum of 15 years of supervised release. Also, he will be required to register as a sex offender after he completes his sentence.

Jorge Amauri Domingos-Nascimento, 52, departed on a commercial flight from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport under ICE escort Monday night; he arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Tuesday morning, and was turned over to Brazilian authorities without incident.

Santucci, Kenyhercz, Bertanza, Chickos, Gentile, Fernandes and Mase have been released on bond. Pecora remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing on May 5, 2015.

These arrests resulted from an investigation by ICE HSI and the Passaic County (New Jersey) Narcotics, Gangs and Violent Crimes Task Force. Authorities arrested the following on one count each of promoting gambling, and possession of gambling records: Diana A. Nunez, Maximo Beltre, and Carlos B. Nouel.
