Senate adds language to tax bill to allow illegal aliens to claim child tax credit

Senate adds Language in the new GOP tax bill allows for illegal immigrants to claim child tax credits for anchor babies.

“In order to receive the child tax credit (i.e., both the refundable and non-refundable portion), a taxpayer must include a Social Security number for each qualifying child for whom the credit is claimed on the tax return,” it reads.
The credit was increased from $1,000 to $2,000 at the behest of Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, which allows for a refundable credit of up to $1,400.



“Because of birthright citizenship, any children born to illegal aliens become automatic U.S. citizens. Thus, illegal aliens can still receive billions of dollars in tax credits for their U.S.-born children,” Temple University professor Jan Ting wrote in a post on the website for the Center for Immigration Studies.

Illegal aliens are allowed to use a Taxpayer Identification Number to get the credit. A provision that was not allowed in the House Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that required the “taxpayer includes the taxpayer’s Social Security number on the return of tax for such taxable year.”

But the new language in the bill agreed to by the senate and House allows for the use of a TIN which opens the floodgates to illegal aliens claiming the credit.

“The House bill requires a SSN in order to claim the child tax credit. Members will work to address this in conference to protect against fraud in this credit,” a spokesperson for the House Ways and Means Committee told Breitbart.

It remains to be seen if the provision will be changed.

Illegal aliens should not be able to collect ANY benefits on behalf of a US citizen whether that citizen is a minor or otherwise!

Do not reward illegal alien parents! They should NOT be on our soil.

They are the guardians and custodians of THEIR minor children. Not the USA or it's taxpayers.

The only people in America that need to use a TIN number for tax purposes are legal immigrants and illegal immigrants both of which should be prohibited from receiving tax credits for their children! The US Senate is deliberately trying to keep the taxpayer financial magnet for illegal immigration in place!

They had this fixed and then "someone" changed it in the US Senate. I'm sure it was Rubio, McCain and their contingents who support illegal immigration in the US Senate. Whether the Senate and House were able to get that fixed in Conference, don't know for sure. But if not, then this will be fixed next year. Anyone who thinks a 52-48 margin in the Senate is a tough Senate to work with, just wait until next year when it's only 51 to 49, so they may have to use Administrative Rulings in the IRS or Executive Orders backed by legal opinions through the DOJ, because you can't do it with laws when you don't have the votes in the US Senate.
