If Obama can deport to his heart's content so can Donald Trump

President Barack Obama has deported so many illegal immigrants from the United States that he's picked up the moniker from immigration groups as the "Deporter in Chief."
According to federal data, the Obama administration has deported more people entering the county illegally than any other president in U.S. history.
Going deeper into the numbers, Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than the 17 presidents combined who served the nation from 1901 to 2000.
So what's the number? From 2009 to 2015, more than 2.5 million people have been removed from the U.S. via Obama's immigration orders. The president ramped up deportation in 2016, so the final total will likely exceed 3 million by the time he leaves office on Jan. 20, 2017.
A very large majority of the deportation orders have targeted criminal illegal immigrants -- people who came to this country and committed felony crimes, sometimes repeatedly.
The deportations have been one of the few bright spots in Obama's otherwise nonexistent policy to secure the nation's borders.
Yet through all of Obama's illegal immigration crackdown, there hasn't been a word of protest from the progressive crowd that is now stomping its feet in cities and on college campuses across America.
During Obama's eight years in the White House, no one has torched a public building, ransacked a department store, assaulted Americans who favor deportation policies, or held demonstrations to promote sanctuary for the bad guys.
So isn't it ironic that since Republican Donald Trump was elected president 12 days ago -- he's an advocate for the same deportation policy as his predecessor
-- protesters have raised their voices -- sometimes through violence -- to declare "freedom" and "protection" for the foreign felons who have no respect for the law of the land?
This has nothing to do with political ideology. Democrats and Republicans alike should be united in eliminating threats to national security, border security and public safety.
The hypocrites leading the protests in elective office -- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is the most egregious -- and on college campuses -- students, administrators, faculty -- should realize that there's a large segment of Americans who also want to heard. In fact, they spoke loud and clear on Nov. 8 through the ballot box: We will no longer tolerate the status quo.
What was good for Obama should also be good for Trump when it comes to deporting criminals here illegally.
