Contract for CBP Tent Processing Centers Approved

Contract for CBP Tent Processing Centers Approved

    April 19, 2019 9:44 AM in News - Local
    By: Valerie Gonzalez

WESLACO – The contract to begin construction of "soft sided structures" that will function as temporary processing centers along the border was approved Thursday, Apr. 18.

Customs and Border Protection filed the fast-tracked contract six days prior to its approval.
Within the documents they stated they needed to work quickly to address the immigration surge at the border.

Their deadline to build the facilities in El Paso and Donna, Texas is set for April 30.

The facilities will expand processing space for Border Patrol.

It will be designed to provide temporary housing, meals, showers, clean clothes, and a medical area for immigrant families and children coming into the country alone.

It's described as a soft-sided facility that can be used for eight months starting in May with a base cost of $19,212,800 with the option to extend month-by-month through December for a total cost of $37,225,600.

According to the federal bidding site, the total cost of the awarded contract is $36,870,400.

During the Department of Homeland Security Acting Secretary Kevin McAleenan visit to the Rio Grande Valley this week, he indicated the department is working to create additional processing space.

By overriding the traditional bidding process and working with a company CBP stated, Deployed Resources, worked with the agency in 2016, documents state the facility would be completed by Apr. 30, 2019.

There should be enough of these Tent Processing Centers to handle all illegals who come here, and they should not be allowed to leave the tent cities until their claim is processed and declined and they're sent back to their country.

But what would be better yet, is the whole thing with having to claim asylum in their own country, and anyone who comes here should be banned from ever being considered for asylum, and imprisoned to make their life as miserable as possible, until being returned home.

When their fellow countrymen see them returning, after spending a considerable jail term, even more broke than when they first left, the rest will think twice about coming here. We need to make the whole experience of coming here as uncomfortable and horrific as possible.

AND......unless there is a civil war going on in their country, ALL asylum claims should be denied automatically. That would allow us to deny 100% of all asylum claims of any country south of our border.

They need to process all UAC's within 24 hours and deport them BACK into the care and custody of their President.

We are not the worlds babysitter. It is kidnapping to KEEP them or release them to anybody.

They are their President's responsibility to find their relatives back home.

Let them set up tent cities for them on their damn soil.

    NO UAC'S!!!

At the same time, his administration has stopped using one of three family detention centers to hold parents and children and left almost 2,000 beds unused at the other two. It says it does not have the resources to transport migrants to the centers.

If we don't have tent processing centers, they will be released into OUR interior. That's what's been happening lately because we don't have enough of them. Having enough tent processing centers will allow us to detain them and keep them from disappearing forever in our interior until we can process them and return them to their own country.

Although I think the processing part should be skipped entirely, and we should detain them in these tents just long enough for us find a space for them on the next bus home. And we should charge the originating country for every one of their citizens that we had to pay for to keep detained, fed, etc., plus what it costs for the transportation fees to ship them back.

Can they build a tent large enough for ALL of Central America+ many extras from the rest of the world?

Is building this $38,000,000 tent another distraction? That's not a crazy question, since 2,000 beds are empty while this $38,000,000 tent is being built.

I don't think enough tents to house ALL of Central America are the answer, especially when there is this option, much faster, easier, and cost effective! Why isn't it being used?

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non immigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
    ----------------
At the moment, they couldn't get them to a tent if they had tents---just watched one of the videos the ACLU and SPLC do not want us to see. Watched 7 run across a 4 lane busy highway, watched as it took BP 30 minutes for to answer a call, saw a gate that had a foot gap in it they were crawling through. Heard, can not verify that sometimes when a call goes in to BP, they are told to just let them go.

Let's build TENTS to house 1 billion people on the planet "dreaming" of coming here!

Trump LIED when he said he was "not going to warehouse thousands of people on our border"!

Just fingerprint them, give them a sack lunch and a bottle of water AND load their butts on buses and send them back!

Fast track the UACs, sick ones and pregnant ones out of here. I do not want to pay their medical bills, housing, welfare and food stamps!
