    CARO -- A dozen unregistered immigrants were in custody in Detroit after an early-morning traffic stop in Tuscola County.

    A state police trooper from the Caro Post stopped the suspects' Dodge van about 6 a.m. Wednesday for improper lane use on M-81 at Cedar Run in Elmwood Township.
    Further investigation revealed that the driver and all 11 van occupants were in the United States illegally.

    Authorities lodged the group at the Huron County Jail until agents from the Detroit office of U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement transported them to Detroit.
