Family and friends are gathering in support of the South Florida teen facing the deportation dilemma. A candle light vigil was held Tuesday night at Camila Hornung 's home in Miami. The 19-year-old honor student and her family were taken into custody by immigration officials for being in the country illegally.
Friends of the FSU freshman say she was brought here from Peru 14 years ago as a child and deserves the right to stay. One of Camila's friends says she recently spoke with the FSU student and Camila says she's very scared and just wants to finish school here.
Camila and her family are being held in Deerfield Beach, awaiting deportation to their native country Peru. The friends say the family is not any harm to the U.S., they say, in fact, they are an asset.
The family could be deported as early as two weeks, but right now, family and friends are fighting to keep them here.
