Break up led to stabbing, police say
April 2, 2011
A man stabbed his girlfriend in her Albany Park home this morning after she tried to break up with him, police said.
The woman, 28, previously had reported the man to immigration authorities and he was deported to Mexico, but he returned to the United States and they resumed their relationship, according to a police report.
The woman was stabbed about 6 a.m. in her residence in the 4100 block of North Bernard Avenue and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.
The man, 37, fled the scene, he said.
The woman broke up with the man and this morning, about 6 a.m., he became upset and stabbed her, according to the police report.
The man’s immigration status could not be confirmed with federal authorities today.
Grand Central Area detectives were investigating. The man had not been arrested as of about 4 p.m.

You know I hate to blame the victim in most cases, but this one you just can't help but shake your head and say she brought this on herself.
SHE got him deported, it doesn't say when but I'll bet it was recently. He comes back illegally and she takes him back! I mean really, where is your head at woman? You knew from the git go he was bad news, and yet you go back for more? Insane!
