Illegal Alien Charged with Repeatedly Raping Girl for Two Years In NC



LEXINGTON, NC - On Wednesday, police arrested Alex Couto-Maria, 37, following an investigation that determined he had been sexually abusing a young girl for nearly two years.

DNA evidence played a role in the case, according to court documents.

The sexual assaults reportedly took place from October 2019 until August 23, 2021.

Couto-Maria has been charged with first-degree statutory rape and indecent liberties with a minor. He is currently being held at the Davidson County Jail on $250,000 bond and an ICE detainer.

His next court date is scheduled for January 5.

This is an ongoing investigation, and more charges may be filed against Couto-Maria.
