Woman tried to smuggle 34,000 ecstasy tablets into America in a fake 'baby bump'

A 25-year-old woman tried to smuggle more than 34,000 ecstasy pills into America by concealing them in a body suit made to look as if she were heavily pregnant.

Leeann Corley, from Stone Mountain, Georgia, is accused of smuggling the stash while she was travelling on a greyhound bus from Canada.

It was when the bus was going over the Peace Bridge connecting Canada and Buffalo that border agents became suspicious of her claim she was eight months pregnant and returning to the U.S. after visiting a sick aunt.

When she was questioned about her travel plans, it became apparent something was not right as she struggled to answer routine questions.

Then during secondary questioning, she could not answer basic questions about her health or pregnancy. This was when they decided to search her.

During a pat down, investigators discovered that she was wearing a body suit with a modified stomach area, according to the U.S. District Court complaint.

The 'stomach area' contained 33 zip-lock bags containing coloured pills.

The seized narcotics weighed more than 21 pounds, and border agents estimated that the bags contained a total of 34,230 Ecstasy pills with a $3million street value.

Corley was arrested on federal charges of importation and possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.
