A Mexican national who was in the country illegally has been sentenced to one year in prison for using the stolen identity of a U.S. Marine deployed to the Middle East.

Inocente Monroy Alcantara used the identity to get a job with a meatpacking plant in Arkansas City. The marine, who has asked not to be identified, started received collection calls and bills upon his return to the states in 2009.

Alcantara pleaded guilty to an "aggravated felony," that will result in his automatic removal from the United States after he completes his federal prison sentence. He also is banned for life from re-applying for admission into the United States.

Should he return, Alcantara faces a multi-year prison sentence for re-entry after deportation
