Marc Short: White House Is ‘Anxious’ To Deliver Big Amnesty to Democrats

    Neil Munro

The administration is anxious to win Democratic approval for an amnesty, says former Never-Trump leader Marc Short, who is now working as President Donald Trump’s chief outreach aide to Congress.

“Chris, we’re anxious to get a deal,” Short told Fox News Sunday on January 28 before explaining why the administration rapidly caved to Democratic demands for bigger amnesties of illegal-immigrant workers, from 690,000 to 1.2 million, then to 1.5 million, then up to 1.8 million.

We started by saying we want to protect the 690,000 people who have permits under DACA, meaning people age 16 to 36, who have work permits who are in this country, producing, contributing to our economy. We, of course, want to protect them. We don’t want to send them away.

But Democrats said that population should be larger. We should consider those who are eligible but were afraid to apply. We should also go back to 2012, which is when [President Barack] Obama put in place his unconstitutional order ….
We’ve been trying to get a deal.

Under the Short’s amnesty proposal, all migrants who can persuade agency officials that they arrived in the country by 2012 before they were adults, and are aged 37 or younger, will get the huge prize of residency and citizenship in the United States.

Short and other administration officials estimate the number to be amnestied will be 1.8 million — but the pending legislation does not set an upper limit, nor an ending date, nor does it set any incentives for the agency to resist business pressure to maximize the inflow of amnestied workers and consumers. The 1986 amnesty showed that far more people were given green cards than predicted by Congress, suggesting that a 2018 amnesty for an estimated 1.8 million could produce an amnesty for 4.5 million illegals.

That huge inflow of workers is greater than the roughly 4 million young Americans who will join the workforce in 2018, and would likely suppress Americans’ wages during the current economic boom.
Short’s confessed anxiousness for a deal violates one of the rules in President Donald Trump’s bestseller, The Art of the Deal,:

The worst thing you can possibly do in a deal is seem desperate to make it. That makes the other guy smell blood, and then you’re dead.
Amid Short’s anxiousness for a deal, President Donald Trump appeared to equivocate on Saturday night by describing the amnesty offer as a tool to display the GOP’s good-faith and the Democrats’ political cynicism.

Trump is expected to give his State of the Union on Tuesday night and may endorse the huge amnesty, or perhaps cite the political gridlock over amnesty to make it the central issue of the 2018 midterm election. That option would clear the issue off his desk, and force Democrats to tell ordinary voters why they should welcome millions of competitors for the jobs slots, school seats, and taxpayers’ dollars that could help their children.
The amnesty is very unpopular. A January 28 Breitbart report noted that blacks are particularly opposed to mass-immigration:

According to a detailed Harvard-Harris poll, black Americans are more likely than any other demographic group to support cutting yearly legal immigration levels down to a fourth of current immigration levels.

When asked, “In your opinion, about how many legal immigrants should be admitted to the U.S. each year,” 48 percent of black Americans said they would like to see between only one and 250,000 legal immigrants brought to the U.S. a year.

Trump, Short, and other officials have justified the amnesty by saying it would end chain migration and the visa lottery. But the bill would allow all 4 million people on the chain-migration waiting list to end the United States over the next 15 years.

During the 2016 primaries, Short worked for the pro-amnesty Koch Brothers. According to a May 2061 report by National Review:

On a frigid Tuesday in February, a team of top political operatives from the Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, the umbrella group that controls political activities for the sprawling donor network led by billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch, arrived in Kansas for a meeting that they hoped would turn the tide of the presidential campaign.
They’d set aside $150 million to spend on paid media alone, to be spread across campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. Yet they had not been authorized to spend a dime on the White House race.

Marc Short, then president of Freedom Partners, wanted to change that. He led a faction inside the Koch network that had become convinced of the need to neutralize Donald Trump before his momentum made him unstoppable. Fresh off Trump’s landslide victory in New Hampshire one week earlier, and staring down another likely Trump win in South Carolina that Saturday, Short and his lieutenants had come to Wichita to present Charles Koch with a detailed, eight-figure blueprint for derailing the Republican front-runner on Super Tuesday, when eleven states would vote. They hoped to get the green light to hammer Trump with ads in the states where he was most vulnerable.

Short’s later joined Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign for President.

Since Trump’s election, the Koch brothers have upped their support for a 2018 amnesty — and are also opposing any compensating cutbacks to legal immigration.

In fact, Short’s amnesty bill also may abort pending wage raises due before GOP politicians face the voters in November, especially in low-unemployment states, such as Minnesota or Virginia. Currently, many employers are offering one-time bonuses to keep their employees at work but will have to start offering permanent raises if they give up hope for a new wave of immigrant labor.

Widespread pay raises in 2018 could be a strategic disaster for business groups because they would decisively show the public how mass immigration has cut their wages, despite many denials by business-funded economists.

A near-final version of the draft amnesty provided to Breitbart News says that the Department of Homeland Security would be forbidden from deporting illegals until they apply for the amnesty. The rule would encourage many migrants to fly, drive or walk nto the United States during the 2018 election season seeking the chance of winning American residency.

Many Democrats are supporting the Koch-backed Trump amnesty because think it will import more voters for them to win Texas, Florida and other states.

Four million Americans turn 18 each year and begin looking for good jobs in the free market.
But the federal government inflates the supply of new labor by annually accepting roughly 1.1 million new legal immigrants (including roughly 750,000 working-age migrants), by providing work-permits to roughly 3 million resident foreigners, and by doing little to block the employment of roughly 8 million illegal immigrants.
The Washington-imposed economic policy of economic growth via mass-immigration floods the market with foreign labor, spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate prices, widens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high-tech careers, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with opioid addictions.

The cheap-labor policy has also reduced investment and job creation in many interior states because the coastal cities have a surplus of imported labor. For example, almost 27 percent of zip codes in Missouri had fewer jobs or businesses in 2015 than in 2000, according to a new report by the Economic Innovation Group. In Kansas, almost 29 percent of zip codes had fewer jobs and businesses in 2015 compared to 2000, which was a two-decade period of massive cheap-labor immigration.
Because of the successful cheap-labor strategy, wages for men have remained flat since 1973, and a large percentage of the nation’s annual income has shifted to investors and away from employees.

Former Koch Brothers Exec, Now White House Staffer, Marc Short: Trump ‘Willing to Expand’ DACA Amnesty

    John Binder

    January 21, 2018

During an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Short made the claim that in negotiations to give reward illegal aliens with amnesty, Trump would be “willing” to give a pathway to U.S. citizenship or permanent legal status to not just the nearly 800,000 DACA illegal aliens enrolled in the program, but also the illegal aliens who are eligible for DACA, an unlawful population that would mean 3.5 million illegal aliens being given amnesty.

The Meet the Press exchange went as follows:

    MARC SHORT:
Things that need to be clarified on that because sometimes what Democrats have done is say they’ll authorize it without appropriating it which is a game here. Democrats have voted before to authorize lots of money that never happens. So we need to clarify that. But we see progress. On our side they said they want the 690,000 DACA population expanded. Senator Durbin has made the case that say many people did not register and they should not be held harmful. We’ve been willing to expand that population. So there’s progress happening here which, again, leads us, Chuck, so then why are we shutting down the government? [Emphasis added]

CHUCK TODD: Well, I guess then—Graham/Durbin say that they put this offer out here. Now you’ve got Chuck Schumer saying it. So why not, why not say, “Okay, it seems like we have the parameters for a deal.” Democrats are willing. You guys are arguing over whether you’re going to appropriate it or not. But it seems as if what they thought—Chuck Schumer says what he thought he had an agreement of that the president changed his mind a few hours later. I guess the question I have for you is who’s in charge of the president’s position on immigration because what he—look at Lindsey Graham. There was two—he calls him Tuesday Trump versus Thursday Trump. What’s the difference here?

MARC SHORT: President Trump is being crystal clear on what he wants and he has not wavered in that, Chuck. What Lindsey Graham and Senator Durbin offered to the president was to say, “Here, we’ve narrowed it down to these four areas you’ve asked us to.” When they came over to the White House and presented them we found them to be woefully insufficient inside those four areas. But nonetheless we had narrowed down the broader debate into a smaller one. We feel like we are making progress on the overall discussion. We think we will get to a solution. What befuddles is to say we’re going to not pay millions of our troops serving around the world. And we’re not going to pay our border agents until, until what—we don’t know what it is they’re asking for. They’ve said, “Give us a shorter CR.” Tonight the Senate Republicans vote, instead of a four-week CR on a three-week CR. And yet Democrats are still are unwilling to give us their vote to keep the government open.

Last week, Senate Democrats, along with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), voted to shut down the federal government because the spending bill to keep the government running did not include amnesty for illegal aliens.

Under the Flake-Graham-Sen. Durbin (D-IL) “Gang of Six” amnesty plan that Democrats and the Republican establishment want to be passed in order to reopen the government, at least 3.5 million illegal aliens who are enrolled and eligible for the DACA program would be given amnesty, as Breitbart News reported.

Additionally, the Flake-Graham-Durbin amnesty would reward the illegal alien parents of DACA illegal aliens with amnesty as well, along with giving amnesty to about 50,000 foreign nationals a year through two separate visa programs.

Short’s statement does not align with populist conservative Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) statement on Saturday that Trump’s standpoint on immigration has “not withheld or shifted its position” on immigration, where the White House has consistently said they would be open to amnesty for only illegal aliens enrolled in DACA if they were given a slew of pro-American immigration reforms in return.

The reforms Trump has been demanding for months include full funding for a border wall, an end to the process of “chain migration,” and an end to the Diversity Visa Lottery program. According to the White House’s longstanding position, these reforms would be in exchange for legal status for only illegal aliens enrolled in the DACA program.

Under the current legal immigration system, more than 70 percent of all immigration to the U.S. come from chain migration, whereby newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the country with them.

In an explosive report, Breitbart News revealed that chain migration, if not ended, is expected to add between seven and eight million new foreign-born voters to the U.S. electorate—a scheme that favors Democrats, as immigrants, specifically Hispanics and Asians, vote 2-to-1 for Democrats over Republicans.

Since 2005, chain migration has imported more than nine million foreign nationals to the U.S., making it the largest driver of immigration—more than 70 percent of all legal immigration. As Breitbart News reported, five years of chain migration to the U.S. adds more people to the country than one year of American births.

Additionally, should current legal immigration policy remain the same for the next 50 years, 100 million foreign-born people will be added to the U.S. population, Breitbart News reported.

Likewise, the Visa Lottery, which Trump has demanded an end to, randomly imports 50,000 foreign nationals every year from a multitude of countries, including those with known terrorism problems—such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Yemen, and Uzbekistan.

Most recently, the Visa Lottery made national headlines when it was revealed that suspected ISIS-inspired New York City terrorist, Uzbek national 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, who is accused of murdering at least eight individuals, enteredthe U.S. in 2010 by winning one of the 50,000 visas randomly allotted in the program.

A Pulse Opinion Research poll conducted this month found that 60 percent of American likely voters wanted to see the Visa Lottery ended, as Trump has demanded. The same poll also found that nearly 60 percent of likely voters want to see chain migration ended as part of any immigration deal.

Since September 2017, when Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the DACA program would officially end in March 2018, Short has been pushingthe White House to accept amnesty for illegal aliens, Breitbart News noted.

Despite now being a part of the Trump administration, Short has a long history opposing the president and his agenda, as well as working alongside the Koch brothers, two pro-mass immigration billionaires who are major donors to the Republican establishment, as the director of the group Freedom Partners.

In May 2016, during the height of the Republican presidential primary, where Trump was taking the country by storm on his populist-nationalist “America First” agenda, Short was heading an effort to derail the then-front-runner.

At the time, National Review exclusively reported that Short was leading an effort inside the Koch brothers’ organizations to take down Trump and his agenda, partly by supporting Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who infamously helped author the Gang of Eight amnesty bill that would have given the 12 to 30 million illegal aliens in the U.S. a pathway to citizenship:

On a frigid Tuesday in February, a team of top political operatives from the Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, the umbrella group that controls political activities for the sprawling donor network led by billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch, arrived in Kansas for a meeting that they hoped would turn the tide of the presidential campaign.

They hoped to get the green light to hammer Trump with ads in the states where he was most vulnerable.

Just a week after Short’s efforts to lead a full-fledged Koch-funded operation against Trump, he signed onto the Rubio campaign.

After Short left the Koch’s Freedom Partners, he praised the open borders, billionaire donors, saying, “Charles and David have built an amazing network of donors and activists, and their investments in future generations will pay huge dividends.”

The Koch brothers, as well as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Mark Zuckerberg’s cheap labor organization, and the open borders lobby have all demanded an immediate amnesty for millions of illegal aliens who are enrolled and eligible for DACA.

The Democrats are a minority and with far more Senate seats in play than the GOP, probably going to be a smaller minority in the US Senate. What is the big worry?

Koch Brothers Group ‘Encouraging’ Congress to Pass Amnesty for DACA Illegal Aliens

    September 19, 2017

    John Binder

In a news release through the Libre Initiative, the Koch’s pro-amnesty organization, President Daniel Garza touted amnesty for the 800,000 illegal aliens currently shielded by the Obama-created Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program as the only viable option.

“It’s clear that there is strong bipartisan support to provide permanent legislative relief for immigrants brought here as children, through no fault of their own,” Garza said. “The news that leaders in both parties—led by the President—are working together on a legislative package, is extremely encouraging. We encourage Members of Congress to continue this good faith effort and recognize the great potential that lies with addressing immigration reform for all our communities and the country.”

The Koch group’s statement came after news broke that President Trump was working with Democrats on legislation that would grant amnesty to the thousands of illegal aliens shielded by DACA, despite promising voters to do just the opposite.

The Koch’s Libre Initiative has a long history of pushing massive amnesty legislation, including the infamous 2013 ‘Gang of Eight’ amnesty bill that would have legalized the 12 million to 30 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S.

At the time, Garza praised the passage of the massive amnesty legislation—which went on to fail in the House—calling the move an “historic first step.”

The Koch brothers, despite strong opposition to Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda, have managed to infiltrate White House discussions and potential policy initiatives in the White House in the form of Marc Short, who now serves as Trump’s Legislative Affairs Director.

Prior to joining the Trump White House, Short led the ‘Never Trump’ movement inside the Koch brothers’ pro-immigration organizations, as Breitbart News reported.

In May 2016, during the height of the Republican presidential primary, where Trump was taking the country by storm on his populist and economic nationalist agenda, Short was heading an effort to derail the then-front-runner.

At the time, National Review exclusively reported that Short was leading an effort inside the Koch brothers’ organizations to take down Trump and his agenda, partly by supporting Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who infamously helped author the Gang of Eight amnesty bill:

After Short left the Koch’s Freedom Partners, he praised the open borders, billionaire donors, saying, “Charles and David have built an amazing network of donors and activists, and their investments in future generations will pay huge dividends.”

Over the weekend, Short questioned what the definition of a “wall” truly is under Trump’s administration, as Breitbart News reported. Though building a border wall along the southern border was Trump’s key tenet of his America First agenda, Short said the wall is actually “a myriad of different structures.”

“I think that what the definition of a wall is, is something that we all need to have a serious conversation,” Short told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
