Illegal alien wanted for homicide turned over to Mexican authorities

Man is wanted for vehicular manslaughter in Mexico

LAREDO, Texas - A man wanted in Mexico for homicide, assault and property damage was turned over to Mexican officials Monday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Salvador Ramirez-Ramirez, 27, was deported under ICE escort across Laredo's Lincoln Juarez Bridge at approximately noon.

A judge in San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato, Mexico, ordered the issuance of an arrest warrant February 23, charging Ramirez-Ramirez with homicide, assault and damages. According to Mexican authorities, Ramirez-Ramirez was involved in a two-car collision Nov. 8, 2008, that resulted in the death of another man.

ICE officers located Ramirez-Ramirez in Temple, Texas, on May 15 after receiving information about his whereabouts from Mexico's Procuduria General de La Republica (PGR). He was arrested at a residence without incident, and was ordered deported by a federal immigration judge June 29.

"ICE will continue to work closely with our Mexican law enforcement partners to ensure that suspects who flee to the United States are returned to their home country to face justice," said Michael J. Pitts, ICE field office director for the Office of Detention and Removal in San Antonio.
