I just watched a gentleman on Fox News who was a supervisor for Bush Fire Fighters and he was demoted for not being able to speak spanish. He said 35-45% of the fire fighters he has trained were hispanics who only speak spanish. Hmm, I wonder if they could be here illegally?

He went on to explain they are hiring more and more hispanics because the contracts for fighting the fires are bided on and the lower the bid, the more points you get. See, they are paying the illegals less money so they can bid lower.

So, this U.S. Citizen lost his job because of illegal alien invaders, this makes me sick.

Back in 2002, PBS did a report on the growing use of ILLEGAL aliens to fight fires. Private contractors, hired by Western states to train "hand crews" of fire fighters, began hiring migrant workers from Mexico and Central America, many of them illegal aliens who speak almost no English, who are in the U.S. with fake ID cards purchased on the black market.

In 2003, concerned that having large numbers of people on fire crews with limited English skills may compromise safety if instructions are not understood, the Oregon Department of Forestry decided to take action. Did they decide to require new hires to be able to speak English, the language of this country? Did they decide to enforce the laws already on the books, against hiring illegal aliens?

Nope. According to a new report from KATU-TV, they enacted a new law that requires firefighter crew bosses to be BILINGUAL... or lose their jobs.

You read that right. Instead of requiring new firefighter recruits to speak English -- or even be here LEGALLY -- they decided to require crew bosses to speak SPANISH, or be demoted or fired.

And now it's actually happening.

Jaime Pickering, a Crew Boss overseeing 20 firefighters, was demoted in rank to Squad Boss because he refused to be forced to learn Spanish -- and then was busted all the way down in rank when he went public with his story. Others are actually losing their jobs over this.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. At a time when Americans are demanding that the federal government secure the border against the illegal alien invasion, English-speaking heroes like Jaime Pickering are being demoted, and even fired, for refusing to bow to politically-correct pressures from pro-illegal alien forces inside the government.

Despite raging wildfires across the American Southwest in recent weeks, the state of California sent more than four dozen firefighters 300 miles south of the U.S. border to battle blazes in Mexico.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) last week dispatched two engine strike teams with a total of ten engines and 54 personnel after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office approved a request by Baja California Gov. Eugenio Elorduy Walther.

"This is believed to be the first time that CDF personnel have traveled so far beyond the border to assist its neighbor," said CDF Fire Capt. Jesse Estrada. "Under longstanding agreements through the Border Agency Fire Council response agreements are in place for assistance for one mile over each side of the border. A response this far into Mexico required thorough planning and logistical support."

He maintains the state "was able to fill the request while still remaining ready to respond to any wildfires here in California."

Even though the teams returned on Friday, the idea of sending U.S. firemen to Mexico when American states are in the midst of major conflagrations has some people shaking their heads.

"How can we send our American firefighters to a hostile, Third World country where just months ago, the same citizens who are here illegally in the U.S., were chanting 'DIE GRINGO' as they marched down the streets and waived the Mexican flag? Are we stupid?" one relative of a California firefighter told WND.

"Worse, what protection is offered to U.S. firefighters if they get hurt ... ? What protection do they have from disease while in Mexico? Who is paying for CDF to fight fire in Mexico? Certainly Mexico isn't. That's right folks – again, it's the good ol' USA taxpayer footing the bill for Mexicans in their own country. This is more loco than the human mind can comprehend. ... It's pathetic."

This weekend, 23 large blazes were burning more than 275,000 acres in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, officials have reported 54,686 wildfires have scorched some 3.2 million acres nationwide this year, three times the average of just over 1 million acres by this time.

Experts are concerned about tinderbox conditions that could spark a season of historic severity.

"Basically, you have had low precipitation since the late 1990s, and now, a winter in which we got close to no precipitation" in the Southwest, Chuck Maxwell, a meteorologist with the Department of the Interior, told the Los Angeles Times. "The fuel moisture levels are very low. The humidity is very low. There are lots of places now that are as dry as we have ever seen them."

ALPINE, Calif. * A 7,000-acre wildfire that forced the evacuation of more than a hundred homes near the California-Mexico border may have been caused by an abandoned campfire set by illegal immigrants, authorities said Monday.

The fire had burned nearly 11 square miles of brush and chaparral in the Cleveland National Forest in southern San Diego County.

It appeared to have spread early Saturday from an abandoned campfire set in a side drainage of a canyon, the U.S. Forest Service said in a statement. Evidence at the scene suggested "the campfire was left by undocumented immigrants," it said.

Forest Service spokeswoman Anabele Cornejo said she had no details on what evidence investigators found.

The wildfire was the latest in a series of blazes around California that have put fire crews to work in temperatures of 100 degrees and above.

It prompted sheriff's deputies to order 125 homes evacuated in the town of Alpine starting Sunday. Residents throughout parts of Pine Valley and Lake Morena, where there are about 1,350 homes combined, were told to remain on standby, said sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Plese.

More than 1,500 homes and 100 commercial properties could be threatened by the fire, which was about 5 percent contained, but the threat was not immediate, officials said.

Fire crews worked in blistering temperatures as California's heat wave lengthened. Five firefighters around the state have suffered heat-related illnesses in recent days, officials said.

Monday's high in the forest was expected to be 105 degrees, compounded by humidity, according to the National Weather Service. With a 40 percent chance of showers, the area could cool down soon, officials said.

In Joshua Tree National Park * where a blaze had consumed 1,050-acre acres of dense, desert vegetation * fire supervisors were asking crews working in temperatures up to 103 degrees to remove their helmets every hour to make sure they were still sweating, said fire spokesman Dennis Cross.
No sweat, he said, could mean a firefighter had "dried up" * a sign of heat exhaustion.
"It probably feels like it's 150 up there," said Cross, adding that crews were drinking about the twice the amount of water and Gatorade they might otherwise consume.
"When you have this humidity and this heat, it really takes a toll on your body," he said.

The blaze, burning across 1.6 square miles near the Riverside-San Bernardino county line, destroyed a park-owned cabin. The fire was 67 percent contained.

Farther north, more than 800 firefighters worked to cut lines around an 8,200-acre, or nearly 13-square-mile, fire on ranch land east of San Ardo in southeastern Monterey County.
A lightning strike late Saturday sparked the fire, and erratic winds generated by thunderstorms caused it to spread, officials said.

Off the coast of Los Angeles County, a lightning-sparked fire on Santa Catalina Island was 40 percent contained at 700 acres, or a bit more than a square mile, officials said.

Elsewhere, a 447-acre blaze in the Cajon Pass that clogged traffic on Interstate 15 was nearly contained. The fire started about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and led to evacuation of two ranches. Several unoccupied buildings burned.
The cause was under investigation.

Well you can't tell me this is just another job Americans won't do.
I don't know how many young people I have talked to who have spent their own money taking firefighting classes and emergency medical training, they volunteer their time in rural fire departments to gain experience. I have known many who spent years working as seasonal firefighters waiting for a full time job and any time a city fire department has job openings hundereds of people apply for it.
These young people take what they want to do very seriously and they work hard at their careers as firefighters/EMT's often going on to Paramedic training in hopes of being hired.

:? This entire situation came as a complete shock to me a few months ago when it was exposed. What is or can be done about it?

BTW, from my contacts, there is much talk about the ILLEGALS setting fires. Several are in the border states right in the middle of the hot spots so I tend to listen carefully to them.
