Illegal immigrant arrested in Franklin County

The U.S. States Attorney’s office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Thursday a 27-year-old native and citizen of Guatemala was charged with illegal re-entry into the U.S., and was arrested in Franklin County.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter J. Smith, Fredi Galicia-Dominguez was charged in a one-count indictment by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg Wednesday.

The indictment alleges Galicia-Dominguez, an alien who has been arrested previously and deported from the U.S. on Jan. 13, 2006, did knowingly and unlawfully re-enter the U.S. and was arrested in Franklin County.

If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian G. McDonnell.
