Illegal immigrant complains about being denied a driver's license: 'You cannot work'

An illegal immigrant who participated in a House Democrats press conference on Wednesday complained about not being able to get a driver's license in the U.S. due to her lack of legal status.
"For an undocumented immigrant, not having a driver's license cuts our legs. You cannot work. You cannot take your children to school or the doctor," said Ingrid Vaca, who came to the U.S. in 2000.
The Bolivian citizen complained about not being able to get more government assistance as an illegal immigrant and called on lawmakers to pass a clean Dream Act.
Illegal immigrants in a number of progressive states are permitted to get driver's licenses, including California.
The Trump administration announced Sept. 5 that it would begin winding down the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which provides work permits and legal protection to adults who came to the U.S. illegally when they were children.
Congress has until March 5 to pass a bill that addresses DACA, though it's not clear whether Trump would sign a bill that continues former President Barack Obama's 2012 executive action.
