An illegal immigrant living in Dyersville has been sentenced to prison for document fraud.
24-year old Jose de Jesus Becerra-Lopez was sentenced to nearly four months in federal prison on Tuesday.
Becerra-Lopez pleaded guilty in June to one count of unlawful use of identification documents. According to court documents, he admitted he used a fraudulent Social Security card and a fraudulent green card when applying for a job in Cascade in January.
He was previously deported from the U.S. to Mexico in 2012, but illegally re-entered the United States and was found by immigration agents following a car accident in Muscatine County in February.
He is being held in U.S. Marshal’s custody until he can be turned over to immigration officials.
