U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported Wednesday that an illegal immigrant pelted rocks at agents as they provided aid to a pregnant woman.

Weslaco, Texas, agents observed a group of illegal aliens attempting to cross the Progreso Port of Entry by climbing a tree on July 7. While two illegal immigrants were at the top of the bridge, a 25-year old pregnant Mexican nationalist was at the base of the tree in distress.

Border Patrol attempted to provide medical assistance to the woman, but were met with rocks hurled at them by one of the illegal aliens.

Both people at the top of the bridge escaped back to Mexico while the woman was taken to a local Emergency Medical Services center. She will be processed once out of the hospital, according to a CBP press release.

Assaults, whether or not they caused injury, toward CBP law enforcement officials have increased under President Donald Trump’s presidency. CBP faced 584 assaults in fiscal year 2016 and fiscal year 2017 saw a total of 847 assaults. The total count of attempted assaults between Oct. 1, 2017 and May 31 is at 540.

PROGRESO, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents were attacked with rocks while providing medical assistance to a pregnant woman.


On July 7, Weslaco agents observed a group of illegal immigrants using a tree to climb up the Progreso Port of Entry after a failed attempt to gain entry into the United States. The agents alerted officials working at the port of entry and approached the group. As they got closer to the area, agents noticed two subjects on top of the bridge and a woman in distress at the base of the tree. The woman, a 25 year-old Mexican national, was complaining of back pain and claimed to be pregnant. As agents began to provide the woman with medical attention, one of the subjects on the bridge began to throw rocks at the agents.


The agents were able to move the woman to a safe location and had the local Emergency Medical Services transport her to the hospital for an evaluation. The assailants fled back to Mexico.


Once cleared by medical staff, the woman will be processed accordingly.


From October 1, 2107, to June 30, 2018, the Rio Grande Valley Sector has rescued 1,157 people, an increase of 53% when compared to last year.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”

Over $1M in Narcotics Seized at Progreso Port of Entry

PROGRESO – About 165 pounds of alleged cocaine were seized at the Progreso/Donna Port of Entry on Wednesday.
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release sent out Thursday, a tractor-trailer carrying an empty flatbed trailer was sent to a secondary station for further inspection.


It states officers then discovered 60 packages of cocaine concealed within the cab of the trailer.


The narcotics have an estimated street value of over $1.2 million.


The driver, a 23-year-old Mexican citizen, was taken into custody.

U.S. Border Patrol agents said they were attacked with rocks while providing assistance to a pregnant near the Progreso Port of Entry in Texas.


“As they got closer to the area, agents noticed two subjects on top of the bridge and a woman in distress at the base of the tree. The woman, a 25-year-old Mexican national, was complaining of back pain and claimed to be pregnant,” the Border Patrol said in a statement.


It happened as Border Patrol agents saw a group of illegal immigrants trying to use a tree to climb up the Progreso Port of Entry into the United States.


When they tried to give the woman medical attention, one of the other people in the group began throwing rocks at the Border Patrol agents.


The agents were able to move the pregnant woman to a safe location. The assailants then fled back to Mexico, the agency said.


The woman still needs to be cleared by medical staff, and she will be processed by immigration officials, officials noted.

Earlier this week, the agency said that agents near Edinburg, Texas, rescued a 3-year-old separated from her mother by smugglers who was abandoned in the Rio Grande river.


When agents responded, they saw a female claiming that her daughter was missing.


“She stated that the guide/smuggler crossed her into the US alone. Then, as the smuggler attempted to cross her daughter, she observed them both drifting down river as she lost sight of them,” the Border Patrol stated.


A National Guard helicopter and other units were mobilized to search for the child. They found the child walking on a river road and checked her for injuries before reuniting her with her mother.


It comes days after Border Patrol agents rescued 64 illegal immigrants in late June and early July. In one incident on June 30, a woman was arrested for attempting to smuggle 10 individuals in the sleeper cab of a tractor-trailer, according to Customs and Border Protection.

Border Patrol agents rescued 64 illegal immigrants last weekend—the latest in a string of rescues that have saved 406 from tractor-trailer units in two months.


All 64 from last weekend were discovered at Border Patrol immigrationcheckpoints near the southwest border; most were found hidden by a K-9.


On June 30, a woman was arrested for attempting to smuggle 10 individuals in the sleeper cab of a tractor-trailer, according to Customs and Border Protection. In a separate incident on the same day, two females were arrested for smuggling seven illegal aliens, who were concealed and locked inside of their truck.


Three hours later, two men were arrested for attempting to smuggle 21 people concealed behind stacks of tires inside the cargo area of a box truck.


On July 1, two people were arrested for attempting to smuggle 14 people by hiding them in the sleeper compartment of the truck.


Later that day, two people were arrested for smuggling 12 people who were locked in the trailer compartment of an 18-wheeler.


“In addition to securing and protecting our nation’s borders, frontline Border Patrol agents are committed to reducing heat-related injuries and preventing deaths along our borders,” said Border Patrol Acting Chief Carla Provost in a statement. “These rescues are a result of stepped-up enforcement at our immigration checkpoints coupled with our search and rescue efforts that are key to preventing unnecessary loss of life.”


All of the smugglers were turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for prosecution.

I know it sounds harsh, but unless they are children or forced at gunpoint against their will, I 100% agree with Lorrie!

Where is our CIC?

We need the military on the border. Border Control is doing nothing more then rolling out the red carpet. I suspect that is not the fault of all that work the border, but they are following orders. And who is giving them orders----Neilsen, and who is her boss? Why, it is the President of the US.
