Illegal immigrant picked up in Texas also accused of child sex assault in New York

SAN ANTONIO — Authorities announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant who is also suspected of raping an 8-year-old child in the state of the New York.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials said the unidentified man from Eduador was arrested on a ranch near Laredo on Monday. He was with a group of ten other illegal immigrants.

During the booking process, they found that he was being sought as a suspect in the sexual assault of a child in Suffolk County.

He will be extradited to New York to face charges in the case.

In a statement released on Friday, the agency said, "The cooperation displayed between the agencies during the arrest of this suspect is exemplary of the manner in which our law enforcement professionals keep our communities safe by apprehending dangerous criminals and exhausting all efforts to bring them to justice."
