Santa Cruz Indymedia | Poverty & Housing
Anti-Immigrant Protest this weekend

Some out-of-town "anti-alien" group is trying to organize a rally this weekend in Santa Cruz. Check the website, check out the rhetoric. Come out to meet & greet, Saturday at noon at the town clock.
Might some Santa Cruz locals want to respond or confront, to educate or
bear witness? To cover the protest for local independent media so as to
avoid a rehash of the Senile's coverage of the Republicans vs. the
BusDrivers event? (where a small conservative counter protest was given front page news and extensive attention while larger-scale labor solidarity was ignored)

Turnout will *likely* be low and it might not be worth a mention or a
response, but who knows... these days, maybe a bunch of racists will come out of the closet to profess their disgust for their fellow humans.

I don't think we should spend all day every day reacting to the ridiculousness that is conservative politics, but what with Maria Shriver coming to Watsonville and a real life anti-immigrant protest coming to town, it's tempting to spend all weekend defending ourselves and raising some hell.

an announcement for the rally follows:
