Columnist: Lynch Proves Left Deems Border Control 'Illegitimate' Read Latest Breakin

    By Sean Piccoli
By defending President Barack Obama's executive order against deportations, attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch this week said out loud what most liberals privately think — "that U.S. immigration law is basically illegitimate," says immigration expert and columnist Mark Krikorian.

Lynch's candor in Senate confirmation hearings about the president's sweeping move came as no surprise, Krikorian told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV on Friday, calling the veteran federal prosecutor's remarks a classic gaffe of the accidentally truthful kind.

Her gaffe followed the familiar path of definitive pronouncement followed by clarification, said Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies and National Review columnist.

"Later in the hearing, the White House sent them a message and said, 'You know, please walk this back,'" said Krikorian. "So they had [Democratic] Sen. [Charles] Schumer [of New York] say, 'You didn't really mean that illegal immigrants have the right to work?' Or something like that.

"So she was sort of trying to walk it back, but it's one of those things where, accidentally, they say what they actually think," he said.

Krikorian said that it's not just liberals and Democrats who agree "that anyone who wants to come here can — in fact, has the right to do so — and we don't really have any right to stop them."

"Unfortunately," he said, "it's a lot of people on the right, especially the Libertarians and the corporate folks, [who] agree with that."

While some in Congress hope to defund the Obama amnesty measure, stripping money out of the federal budget to process millions of immigrants here illegally, Krikorian said that one casualty of the debate should be any GOP senator's willingness to vote to confirm Lynch.

"There has to be a certain amount of deference to the president's choice," he said. "But when the person who's up for the nation's chief law enforcement officer says that this unconstitutional lawless move is OK with her, that seems to me disqualifying.

"I cannot see how any senator at all, certainly not any Republican senator, can uphold their oath of office and yet vote for this person to be confirmed," said Krikorian.

Yet Lynch already has two Republican senators in her corner.

Krikorian also doubted the party's resolve to go after Obama on immigration.

House Speaker John Boehner "said he was going to fight the president's lawless amnesty decrees tooth and nail," said Krikorian, "And now they're basically setting it up so they're going to say, 'Look, we have to give up. We have to fund Homeland Security. But we're going to file a lawsuit so that seven years down the road some people I'll say it was illegal.'

"That's what I'm afraid is going to happen," he said, adding that congressional Republicans might write some strong border enforcement into the Homeland Security portions of the next budget, "but the president's not going to sign it."

Here is an interesting tidbit. Loretta Lynch and Sharon Malone (Mrs Eric Holder) were the two founding members of this sorority at Harvard. It seems they ALL go back a long way.

The sisters of Delta Sigma Theta had Loretta Lynch’s back.

Members of the storied sorority, wearing their trademark crimson and cream, were on hand as President Obama’s nominee for attorney general was grilled by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Lynch, the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, started a Delta Sigma Theta chapter at Harvard with Sharon Malone, an obstetrician and the wife of Attorney General Eric Holder.

Delta Sigma Theta was founded in 1913 by 22 women attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. The sorority’s members have included women in Congress, including former members Shirley Chisholm and Barbara Jordan, and current members Joyce Beatty and Marcia Fudge.
