Immigrants' "Trauma" Doesn't Change The Law

    By Bob Caudle
    The Morning News
The only illegal aliens we need in America are ones that come from spaceships.

This stuff about amnesty from President Bush and Gov. Huckabee condemning INS raids is ... well ... almost un-American.

Apparently those two missed some classes during Republican 101.

According to The Associated Press, Hispanic leaders say some people in Arkadelphia community were "traumatized" by the deportation last month of poultry plant workers who had to leave young children behind.

But they were not traumatized enough to stop some of the immigrants from returning.

A pregnant woman who was separated from her husband and two small children and deported to Mexico on July 26 has already returned to Arkadelphia, and she is just one of several trying to reunite with family back in Arkansas.

Cesar Compadre, an associate professor in pharmacy sciences at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and head of the Hispanic aid organization La Casa, said he met the woman Sunday while providing food to many of the 30 children left unattended in Arkansas.

"It's the most ridiculous thing; it's like the Middle Ages," Compadre said after he and three other doctors treated 25 kids and half a dozen adults.

What's ridiculous about enforcing the law? Ridiculous is people thinking they can just waltz into America wherever and whenever they please -- although they obviously can.

Compadre said he couldn't understand why immigration agents would raid hardworking people who were filling jobs that nobody else would take.

    Here's why. They're here illegally.

Compadre is singing the same old song and dance about the poor illegal aliens. They fill the jobs nobody else will take and they're just trying to make a better life for their families.

But back to our pregnant woman, who remained undeterred in her return to the state.

She said she was detained in Texarkana and Dallas, dropped off in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico -- just across the Rio Grande River from Laredo, Texas -- and immediately made her way back to Arkansas.

So, how did our governor, who's supposed to be sworn to uphold the laws of the state, react?

Huckabee criticized the way immigration officials handled the raid, and donated $1,000 from a state emergency fund to help the community through a Hispanic Baptist church in Arkadelphia, and the League of United Latin American Citizens matched the gift.

Ahem ... the Northern 412 Bypass around Springdale still isn't built. Granted, $1,000 might only buy a stripe on the road, but if Huckabee's into making public relations efforts, he might push some state money toward Northwest Arkansas.

Federal agents arrested 119 workers when they raided the Petit Jean poultry plant on July 26. Immigration and Customs Enforcement initially said the workers were separated from their children because they claimed they had no children with them. Later, the agency said some of those deported had said they had children staying with relatives in Arkansas.

See, this is part of it. Pregnant women want their babies born in America so they'll be American citizens.

But being in the country illegally shouldn't make your child an American anymore than being born in a hospital makes you a doctor. The child should be considered just another illegal alien.

Despite the help and donations from the governor and local food banks, the affected families are still short on diapers and other supplies for younger children, Compadre said.

Since Huckabee's so generous with our tax dollars, he can use mine to pay for a bus ride south for the illegal families.

They've got diapers in Mexico, too.

A gelding standing in his own knee (hock) deep manure..which is SO inviting to parasites.

I'm traumatized by Congress' failure to "repel invasion" and their persistence in wanting to grant "amnesty" to illegals ---

p.s. the pregnant woman made her way back to the United States to drop her anchor in the sea of federal benefits . . .
