LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- An investigation at a Little Rock night club ended with a dozen people arrested by federal agents.
A spokesperson with the Alcoholic Beverage Control, known as ABC, said it received numerous complaints from the public about the club Trois on Asher Avenue.
Little Rock night club Trois was locked up tight Monday morning after we learned Friday night there ended with a dozen people inside the Lonoke city jail.
ABC Spokesperson Scott Hardin said, "(An) On site investigation came together really based on the numerous complaints we had received from the public."
He said the state agency received complaints about the club that prompted them to conduct an on site investigation.
Hardin said based on the severity of the allegations ABC asked Immigration and Customs Enforcement known ICE and the Little Rock Police Department to help them in the on-site investigation.
Our reporter Price McKeon asked Hardin, "Is that normal to bring in the federal level?"
He said, "No. Now we do partner with law enforcement throughout the state and sometimes that does involve federal law enforcement agencies. However that is not a regular go to."
A spokesperson with ICE sent us a statement that read "Reports of an ICE raid are false. ICE does not conduct any type of random or indiscriminate enforcement that targets individuals indiscriminately.."
The Lonoke Police Chief confirmed the city jail received a group of people to hold for ICE on Saturday.
Hardin said, "Again some of these allegations that were made against club we had to take very seriously."
ABC said the club was cited Friday for underage drinking and minors in the club.
When we asked about why the federal government was brought in Hardin replied, "Again a long list of complaints was filed some of which hinted that we needed ICE there and that's why they were brought in. We can't say specifically what the complaint was but when it did come in we knew ICE needed to be there."
LRPD said its officers did not go in the business, make an arrest or transport anyone.
Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said the city and police will continue to protect all citizens and does not want anyone to hesitate to call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
We are still working to confirm what will happen with the people arrested.
We received an additional statement from someone within ABC.
Boyce hamlet, the director of ABC enforcement, sent a statement that read offered: "ABC has several controls in place, both at the state and federal level to ensure no primary care giver was removed from their family or that any minor children were placed in danger. The individuals ICE detained to evaluate their citizenship either had active warrants for their arrest or multiple incidents of being removed from the United States.”
ABC added that the allegations it could mention in the complaints were related to drugs, minors in the club and underage drinking in the club.
ABC said the club was cited on friday for serving alcohol to underage people and minors being inside the club.
Hardin sent us an additional statement that read: "June 10 of this year club Trois received abc violations for disorderly conduct due to a fight in the bathroom that included someone stabbed) and a violation for allowing consumption of alcohol after legally prescribed hours of operation. The club has the option of contesting these violations which it has done.
This will be heard at the abc board meeting on August 15."
We are working to confirm the status of the 12 people taken to the Lonoke jail.
ABC said the investigation into the club that prompted the on-site investigation is still on-going at this time.
