MONTCLAIR -- A 30-year-old man was arrested after police found a substance suspected to be cocaine and several pounds of marijuana inside his residence early Thursday morning.

Officers with the San Bernardino County West End Narcotic Enforcement Team arrested Enrique Bastidas of Montclair after seizing 61 pounds of the substance suspected to be cocaine and 43 pounds of marijuana, estimated at $8,414,620, said a police statement.

Bastidas was living in a residence in the 4800 block of San Jose Street, according to the statement.

"The tip was developed by Montclair field officers," said Art Marinello, Task Force Commander for WestNET. "Because Montclair is a part of (the task force), we took the information they provided and got the search warrant."

With assistance from Upland and Montclair officers, there were a total of eight officers who helped serve the warrant on Bastidas' residence.

"We actually served the warrant early Thursday morning," he said. "We did it because we did not want the kids walking by while we were serving the search warrant."

Bastidas had an identification card from Mexico, but police were not sure if he is a Mexican national, Marinello said.

Investigators did not find weapons in the home, he said. They did find packaging materials and large scales, Marinello said.

No one else was taken into custody, but officers did notice a second mattress and a second set of clothes inside the residence.

Bastidas was booked into West Valley Detention Center on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale, possession of more than 20 kilos, trafficking within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana for sales and maintaining a place to sell narcotics, the statement said.

He's being held in lieu of $2,000,000 bail.
