Customs agents seized nearly $8 million worth of cocaine and marijuana in two separate drug busts at the Laredo Port of Entry.

The first bust came Thursday when U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered nearly $3.6 million worth of cocaine and marijuana hidden in a shipment of frozen broccoli.

The driver, 37-seven-year-old Edmundo Zarate Olivos, of Mexico, was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Authorities say they found 157 bundles of marijuana and 49 pounds of cocaine in his shipment.

Agents also seized cocaine worth an estimated $4.3 million from a commercial bus. No arrests were made in that bust, but an investigation by ICE is ongoing.
