On nationally syndicated radio show host Sean Hannity’s show Friday, Jessica Vaughan, Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, explained that “many avenues into the United States are not regulated, not controlled.”

“All these many avenues into the United States are not regulated, not controlled right now, even though the President has the ability and tools within existing law to use our immigration laws to keep the public safe,” said Vaughan.

Jessica Vaughan’s statement was in response to Sean Hannity’s question: “Why would [the National Director of Intelligence and other intelligence officials] put political correctness above the safety of the American people?”

The following is a transcript of Sean Hannity and Jessica Vaughan's comments:

Hannity: “What’s your reaction to all of this, Jessica?”

Vaughan: “Well, the reason we have immigration control is to protect the public from all manner of threats, whether it’s a public health threat, whether it’s a threat from jihadists, or you know criminals, or the threat of having our native labor force displaced by illegal immigration or even legal immigration.

“And of course, this administration and many in the Republican leadership are so isolated from the rest of America that they don’t understand the consequences of not controlling immigration.

“They bought into this idea that we can pick out all these threats magically, with, you know, with magic powers of technology, from the huge numbers of people who are coming in, not only illegally but also on legal guest worker visas, or tourist visas or people in our immigration process because we simply do not have the ability to properly screen people to know if they’re a threat or not.

“And of course, many of them are not, but there are enough who are, which as you said, with jihadist groups promising to infiltrate and people who are coming illegally – like the woman from Honduras, who knew she was infected with Zika but wanted to get to the United States so she can have her baby here and get what she, you know, thought would be superior care.

“All of these many avenues of entry into the United States are not regulated, not controlled right now, even though the President has the ability and the tools within existing law to use our immigration laws to keep the public safe.”
