Migrant files claim over daughter’s death after US detention

Migrant files claim over daughter’s death after US detention

AFP28 Aug 2018Miami (AFP) – A Guatemalan asylum seeker has filed a claim against US authorities for the “wrongful death” of her daughter, who died six weeks after their detention by US immigration police, her attorneys said Tuesday.

Yazmin Juarez, 20, and her 19-month-old daughter Mariee were apprehended when they crossed the Rio Grande River in March 2018 from Mexico and held at a detention facility in Dilley, Texas.

“Those responsible for providing safe, sanitary conditions and proper medical care failed this little girl, and it caused her to die a painful death,” attorney R. Stanton Jones of the law firm Arnold and Porter said in a statement.

“Mariee Juarez entered Dilley a healthy baby girl and 20 days later was discharged a gravely ill child with a life-threatening respiratory infection,” he said.

After her release, the girl was transferred to two different hospitals and died on May 10, 2018.

Arnold and Porter sent a notice of claim — a step prior to a lawsuit — on behalf of Juarez to Eloy, Arizona, an intermediary between the federal government and the private firm that operates the detention facility in Dilley.

God comfort the mother in the death of her child.

Allowing people to come illegally presents the possibility for lawsuits. And our government is allowing illegal immigration by not securing our borders. I read they claimed asylum but asylum should have been in Mexico if at all.

Traveling to the United States is taking a risk. Being held in detention may present circumstances for illness or disease though they receive medical care.
    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I would think this claim would be really hard to prove. At least if the court acts rationally, especially since it was a number of weeks later.

They violate our border then sue us. We should be suing every trespasser for every cost associated with their illegal entry.

I hate to be cold blooded, but presumably this little girl died of a disease she caught from fellow travelers who bring such diseases to us. Still a fate created by the choice of her mother to come here illegally!

If we could have faith in our courts, our borders would be closed and refugees would be halted. So don't hold your breath!

They are sick when they come here. Give her nothing and deport her to Guatemala!

That is WHY all minors under the age of 18 need to be processed and handed over into the care and custody of THEIR Embassy or Consulate within 48 hours WITH OR WITHOUT their parents. Fast track them off our soil. No daycare, no detention, food and water and hand them over. They are not our responsibility.

Let Guatemala house and feed them and sort them out. They are THEIR citizens!

They have respiratory diseases and they are bringing this here.

WHAT CONDITIONS DID THIS MOTHER DRAG THIS 19 MONTH OLD THROUGH TO GET HERE FROM GUATEMALA?

SHE WALKED, SWAM THROUGH A RIVER, BOARDED ON THE BEAST TRAIN, THEY SLEPT IN THE DIRT, SLEPT IN THE STREET, TRAVELLED AND SLEPT WITH 100's OF OTHER ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO ARE SICK! THEY HAD NO MONEY OR FOOD, THEY ATE SCRAPS!

HOW MANY DAYS DID SHE PUT HER OWN DAUGHTER THROUGH THIS JOURNEY! SHE IS NEGLIGENT FOR DOING THIS.

THAT MOTHER IS 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEATH. SHE DID THIS TO HER OWN DAUGHTER...NOT THE USA!

IS THIS MOTHER PREGNANT WITH ANOTHER ONE????

Big money has lawyers standing by to help illegal aliens sue America and Americans for any reason they can think of. Very sad this lady's child died, but I doubt she paid a dime for all the expensive medical care that was given to her to try to save that baby by Americans working in American hospitals.

I doubt this child was "healthy" when she ILLEGALLY crossed our border.

I also doubt our facilities are not safe and not sanitary.

When was the LAST time this child ever got medical care?

How "SANITARY" were all the conditions she put her daughter in on her ILLEGAL trek over FIFTEEN HUNDRED MILES with no money, no food and no shelter in sweltering hot conditions?

SHE IS THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE IN JAIL FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT AND THEN DEPORTED!

How many days or weeks did she stay on the Mexican side of the border and sleep in the street with her child WHILE plotting her illegal entry into our country?

What kind of food and care did they get there? I am sure very little if any. How many other illegals were sick WITH her?

How many Central Americans have died in Mexico and THEY sued the Mexican government?

NONE, ZERO, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GET ONE DIME OUT OF MEXICO!

WHEN ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS GOING TO SUE OUR GOVERNMENT FOR DUMPING THESE DISEASED CHILDREN INTO OUR SCHOOLS AND NEIGHBORHOODS AND OUR CHILDREN GET SICK AND DIE BECAUSE OF IT!
