Immigration Patriots ‘Thrilled’ About Trump Tossing Out DAPA

    by JOHN BINDER
    17 Jun 2017
    Washington, D.C.

After President Trump’s administration announced it would toss out an Obama-era amnesty program for up to five million illegal aliens, pro-American immigration hawks are cheering as they have a new-found hope in the White House.

In a joint statement, Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) John Kelly and Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) amnesty program would officially be tossed out.

Immigration patriots say that are “thrilled” by the major immigration decision.

“NumbersUSA and its 8 million activists are thrilled that Secretary Kelly has rescinded the DAPA amnesty, partially fulfilling one of President Trump’s key campaign promises,” NumebersUSA’s Chris Chmielenski said in a statement.

Chmielenski said that by the Trump administration ending the DAPA amnesty program, American workers have been spared having to compete with more immigrants in a scarce American job market.

“Although this unconstitutional executive amnesty had been temporarily blocked by the courts, it threatened to issue 5 million new work permits to illegal aliens who would mostly compete with low-skilled American workers who still face double-digit unemployment rates and declining wages,” Chmielenski continued.

Breitbart Texas covered the trial in South Texas in Judge Andrew Hanen where the judge not only blocked the order but had harsh words for Obama Administration lawyers.

President of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) Dan Stein praised Trump’s decision to end DAPA as a win for the rule of law.

“Yesterday’s action by the administration also acknowledges that granting de facto amnesty to millions of people who knowingly violated U.S. immigration laws is also bad public policy that harms the interests of the American people and encourages more illegal immigration,” Stein said in a statement. “Many working class Americans voted for President Trump because of his promise to combat illegal immigration and secure U.S. jobs for American workers. They are the major beneficiaries of this action.”

Though the Trump administration kept their promise on throwing out the Obama-era amnesty program, it has been less active in ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which essentially gives amnesty to young illegal aliens.

In his statement praising Trump, Chmielenski asked the White House to keep their campaign promise and end the DACA program.

“We hope President Trump now will keep his entire promise by ordering an end to the Obama Administration’s other unconstitutional amnesty, the DACA program which continues to issues new work permits to those here illegally,” Chmielenski said.

Stein issued a similar statement on DACA, saying the program was just as legally questionable and hurtful to Americans as DAPA.

“Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), granted to more than 780,000 illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. as minors, was a similar example of an executive overreach that was based on the same flawed legal principle,” Stein said. “Clearly, DACA raises the same legal questions that ultimately resulted in the termination of DAPA. This calls into question the legitimacy of DACA as well.”

The action also ended the DACA Expansion and 3 year work permits, you also need to point this out because it adds credence to the argument that by revoking the DACA Expansionthat would have also added millions to the DACA 2012 number, the Trump administration has determined that DACA is unconstitutional. What remains is the DACA 2012, which was ordered to continue in effect as part of the court injunction order in the Texas lawsuit. That lawsuit is expected now to be dismissed and when it is the injunction order no longer applies. When that occurs, DHS can nimbly announce that with the end of the court order, the DACA program 3 year program renewal has expired and DHS and the President have no intention of renewing it thereby ending all new applications and renewals effective June 15, 2017 with work permits already issued expiring on their current expiration date. The End. No fuss, no muss, no fanfare. Just ended the same way it started.

DAPA and the DACA extension were pretty much non-issues because both of those programs were already rejected by the courts and were pretty much DOA. This was basically a meaningless act used as a distraction from the real issue, which is the current DACA amnesty that is still allowing illegals to get social security cards, work permits, and driver's licenses.

President Trump or Secretary Kelly could cancel DACA this very minute if they chose to do so. Moreover, Trump could have cancelled the program beginning on day one of his presidency. Actually, that was the promise. Trump, during his presidential campaign, called the DACA program unconstitutional and illegal and he promised to get rid of all the Obama's illegal programs and executive orders.

In my opinion, Trump, nor Secretary Kelly have any plans on ending DACA. Kelly is following Trump's lead and both are waiting on a DREAMER legalization bill from the U.S. Congress. Actually, President Trump has said as much and Secretary Kelly and Trump both have personally pushed the Congress to act to legalize those enrolled in the DACA program.

You still don't get it. They decided back in February NOT to "cancel" DACA, they decided to "let it expire in June". There are many reasons why this was absolutely the best decision. It expired on June 15, 2017.

Actually it is you who is confused. DACA is still active and work permits, social security cards, and driver's licenses are still being issued as we speak. Furthermore, anything beyond cancelling DACA immediately as promised was "absolutely" the worst decision! I and many other Trump voters take that breech of promise very seriously.

June 15th meant nothing because the Trump administration had no intention of allowing the DACA amnesty program to expire. I'm pretty sure everyone, including you, already knew that.

Trump Supporters understand this President and what he's doing, because we listen to him and his administration instead of the left-wing Corrupt Media. Trump didn't just revoke DAPA, he revoked DAPA, DACA Expansion, Provisional Waivers and the 3 Year Renewal.
